The good news here is that the folks at NHL central think the Sabres will be a viable team by then. Maybe they'll give us the weighted ping pong ball in the lottery this year to ensure that...

PUH-LEEZE! From what I've seen, the draft class this year is not the best. Not even Nolan Patrick, who's projected at #1.

But NHL Central DOES have it right. Even with the missteps this year, most of the pieces are in place. Now you need the complimentary pieces-and that's the tough part.

It's pretty cool that the Sabres are in the game, but I'm about 1/100th as excited for this Winter Classic as I was for the original.

For one thing, the novelty has diminished considerably. They now do a few of these per year.

For me, nothing will ever match the first one, despite the fact that Miller let Crosby ruin and otherwise perfect day.
