After Eric Woodhttp://www.buffalobills.com/assets/nflimg/icon-article-link.gif (http://www.buffalobills.com/team/roster/eric-wood/28177895-2da7-45bc-bdcf-80ff3f3995f2/) broke his leg in Week 9 against the Seahawks, Groy started the last seven games of the season at center. He is happy that Doug Whaley and Buffalo’s front office rewarded his effort down the stretch.

“It felt really good honestly (to have them match the Rams),” Groy said. “I gave all I could last year and I gave whatever I could for the team. It felt good that they saw that and that they know I’m going to continue to work hard and do whatever can for the team and do whatever I can in different situations.”
Groy is also excited about the additions of Mike Tolberthttp://www.buffalobills.com/assets/nflimg/icon-article-link.gif (http://www.buffalobills.com/team/roster/mike-tolbert/8dd3da23-c460-41ed-90e8-c4ce9aff8ad6/) and Patrick DiMarcohttp://www.buffalobills.com/assets/nflimg/icon-article-link.gif (http://www.buffalobills.com/team/roster/patrick-dimarco/c5baa5d7-1759-4545-a949-ecb8982cc1df/), whom he feels will another layer to Buffalo’s offense. Although he will likely see his role with the Bills as a backup guard once offseason workouts begin, Groy is set out to once again impress people around the organization with the ultimate goal of making the offensive line even better in 2017.

“I’d go into any of these other teams and I know I would be a starter,” Groy said. “Here (in Buffalo), on paper right now I’m not a starter. But of course you’re going to go in and try to start. I’m not going to go in and fight for a backup job. That’s not in my nature to do. I’m not going to fight to be second-best. Going to do what I can to push the guys ahead of me and make the team better.”

Having him,Kujo and Vlad Ducasse here behind the supposed starting 5 makes things look a lot better. And they still may draft an OT for the right side. Had Cam Robinson of Alabama here over the weekend for a pre-draft visit.

We always complain about OL depth but this new staff seem to get it. You win in the trenches more often than not.

If we did get rid of Wood, how much would we save

If they designate him a post-June 1st cap cut, around $2M. But no need to cut him this year.

For a long time the O-line was always a question mark, it's a relief to see this FO address it the way they have over the past 2-3 years. RT is still a question mark, hopefully the pro scouting department strikes gold with a veteran pickup.

Richie is 33, I wonder if Groy takes over that spot at some point.

I think it was the interview with Ducasse on the John Murphy show, but Ducasse talked about how much of a teacher Castillo is and how he improved his game a lot under Castillo's teaching. I liked hearing that.

I think he could win the RG spot and also be considered a replacement for C or LG in 2 years
