It's amazing how fast romo went from underrated to overrated

Now they call him a cowboys legend? He's won 2 playoff games on very good teams along with having a big part in missing the playoffs multiple times by shutting down and throwing ints I'm clutch moments.

I wish Buffalo fans could hold up a QB as being either underrated, overrated and a legend in a discussion.

Romo and Brady were pure luck

Now if we could be like SF was for 30 years, going from Montana to Young to Garcia. Or how GB went from Favre to Rodgers

Or even Indi, yes id be jealous of them, but Dallas got lucky with Romo

You are all missing the big news in this. We won't have to listen to Phill Simms anymore!!

Is he just doing it so he's free to go to whatever team he wants?

Or is he really retired?

Dallas still has his rights no matter what. Just like if Lynch comes out Seattle has to release/trade him

I have been thinking about this since the announcement. I am curious if the Bills would be willing to trade the 10th pick for the Texans 25th pick......what would it cost the texans to move up that are......what do you guys thinks

Yeah, he's the worst...to me, he's the worst.

But he'll catch on somewhere else though, probably.

I'm not sure this is true. I remember that Kyle Orton retired from the Cowboys. Then he changed his mind about retirement and signed with the Bills. At that point in the story the Cowboys didn't control his rights, and weren't given any compensation by the Bills. I don't see what's stopping Romo from doing the exact same thing. However, I think he's set on doing the television gig, and is unlikely to sign with any NFL team.

I hear ya. Romo was a decent NFL QB for many a year. Attacking him for not winning big - may as well attack Dan Marino for the same.

The football is a pointy oblong. an inch here or there missed in making a tackle can make or break a season.

Best of luck to him.

Dallas cut him when he wouldn't report, threatening retirement. If a team owns your rights, they own your rights. Still doesn't matter, Dallas released Romo besides his retirement so he could do what he wants, which is broadcasting.

You are correct. Orton played the retirement card with the Cowboys, which led to his release. It was the act of the Cowboys releasing Orton, and not Orton's retirement in itself, which caused the Cowboys to lose their rights to him. My earlier post should have been clearer on the fact that a player's retirement in and of itself does not cause a team to lose its rights to the player. Only when that retirement causes the team to release the player (as happened with both Orton and Romo) does the team lose its rights.

Anyway, good for Romo to get such a sweet gig.

Interesting that CBS would put him on the so-called A-team right away, with zero experience in broadcasting.

Much safer and less stressful in the booth, one would imagine.

Seems like a decent enough fella to me at this point...
