Chad Kelly has encountered another setback in his path to the NFL draft.

The Ole Miss QB underwent surgery on Monday to repair a ruptured ligament between two bones in his wrist, Kelly's agent, Duray Oubre, told NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport. USA TODAY's Tom Pelissero first reported the news.

Kelly won't be able to throw for three months, per Rapoport.

Kelly cut his pro-day workout short last week, saying after the workout that he aggravated a wrist injury.

CFB 24/7 will soon have more on this story

Adding more fire to those predicting he won't be drafted at all. No matter what you think of him as a QB prospect, this is unfortunate for him.

Chad Kelly’s rocky road to the NFL just hit another bump.
The former Ole Miss quarterback and nephew of hall of famer Jim Kelly had surgery Monday at the clinic of Dr. James Andrews for an acute rupture of a ligament between two bones in his throwing wrist, his agent, Duray Oubre, told USA TODAY Sports on Tuesday.
Kelly won’t be able to throw for three months, Oubre said, meaning NFL teams won’t get another look at him on the field before the draft begins April 27. The hope is Kelly is ready for training camp.
“He’s had a rough go at it,” Oubre said. “But the last thing Dr. Andrews told me is the good thing is they were able to deal with Chad when everything was fresh, and based on what he dealt with with the surgery and his hand specialist that works with him, he anticipates a full recovery.”
Already coming off a torn anterior cruciate ligament and lateral meniscus suffered in early November – his second ACL injury in four years – and barred from the NFL scouting combine because of trouble in his past, Kelly aggravated the wrist while working out the week before his April 3 pro day workout, which he cut short when it flared up again.
Chad Kelly's agent has not given up hope Mississippi QB can attend combine

Kelly, 23, made a scheduled visit to the Kansas City Chiefs last week and tentatively rescheduled his pro day for April 22. But the wrist remained an issue, and an MRI on Monday showed “a little disassociation, so it required a surgical procedure to be done,” Oubre said.
Andrews performed the surgery in Pensacola, Fla., and Kelly is expected to rehab there.
Kelly began his college career at Clemson, but was dismissed from the program in April 2014 for conduct detrimental to the team and transferred to a community college before landing at Ole Miss. In January 2015, he pled guilty to a non-criminal charge of disorderly conduct stemming from an altercation outside a Buffalo bar.
NFL teams like Kelly’s physical tools and leadership qualities, but the combination of off-field issues and now another injury isn’t helping Kelly’s draft stock.

Somebody will sign him and tuck him away for later.

Would be a team that is built already (not like the Bills) who are actively looking to replace a franchise QB.

NY Giants, Patriots, Packers, Steelers. Like that. Some team that could afford the spot on the practice squad.

Smartest post of the year, we wouldn't know what to do even if it's all mapped out with our current crew.

This is good news for the Bills...

Now they can draft him in the 6th round and keep expectations and costs low.

Expectations for Kelly are low, injury or not.

I think I'm moving on from my Chad Kelly hopes.

Occurred to me if it was any other QB with his varied list of concerns, I mean it always seems to be something new, I'd consider it a no brainer to avoid him.

Unfortunately, it's always going to be something that keeps him from his potential.

Just hope he can really show his potential somewhere and somehow.

LOL at Historians post. How true.

Now he probably goes in round 6 or 7...if at all.
