Draft lottery at 8 PM tonight in Toronto

Saturday’s NHL draft lottery in Toronto will determine the order for the first round of the NHL Entry Draft in June in Chicago.

The Canucks, based on their 29th overall finish in 2016-17, hold the second best odds of winning first overall — but it’s still only 12.1 per cent.
A few notes on the process: Odds for remaining teams will increase on proportionate basis for the second draw, based on which club wins first draw, and again for third draw, based on which club wins second draw; the 12 teams not selected in the lottery will be assigned selections 4-15, in inverse order of regular-season points.


Vegas has been assigned the same odds as the third-worst finishers, the Arizona Coyotes.Odds to win the first-overall selection, as calculated by

NHL Central Scouting has tabbed Nolan Patrick as the best draft prospect despite an injury-plagued season. The forward for Brandon of the Western Hockey League missed a total of 39 games, including the Wheat Kings’ four playoff outings. He still managed to put up 20 goals and 46 points in 33 games.The 18-year-old is the son of former Sabres first-round pick Steve Patrick and the nephew of longtime Buffalo defenseman and assistant coach James Patrick.

I'm DONE with us being in the draft lottery year after year after DAMNED year. It's time the Sabres started taking things by FORCE. No more Mr. Nice Guy of the NHL.

I think you hit the nail right on the head; the major issue with this team and has been the major issue for a few years. No "chips" on the shoulders. I'm not talking goon hockey, but it certainly wouldn't hurt to sprinkle a little of the Hansen brothers on this group. You've got to make people pay a price until they are no longer willing to pay - crowd our goalie - Pay; go to the corner - Pay; carry the puck over our blueline - Pay......sure, the fancy move or slick pass gets a SC top 10 clip, but it doesn't bring anything else. This team needs a major attitude adjustment and get a mean streak with a backbone. I'm sure I'm not the only one that remembers the days that teams didn't like us, especially at home. We need to dump the dead weight and get some attitude.

How about we say it like it is, the Sabres are a bunch of creampuffs. How many fights did you see last season ?? Was there a lot of passion from the players ?? The team is soft and likes to be abused by hard playing teams, we simply cave. Murray had this team modeled like him, which is why he is gone. Let's hope for health and prepare for the following draft lottery pick in 2018.
