    This article is weird

Credit Bills ownership for facing questions about Doug Whaley's firing, but the reasons for the GM's post-draft departure still aren't clear.

why keep why he was fired private? Makes no sense.
    I came.
    I saw.
    I conquered.

Maybe the real reason(s) he has been let go has nothing to do with his performance as GM.

He just not trying to throw Whaley under the bus so he can get another job.

Rodak is like 25 years old and not a good source for anything.

Are you insinuating that is performance was lacking else where? Oh.... spiked is going to have a ball with that.

Yeah, this is one area where he really doesn't seem to even recognize he's in over his head as the owner of a sports team. This is the sort of corporate double-speak that you take for granted in the fossil fuel industry when you need only answer to your board of directors, but when you have millions of fans around the world who are buying your merchandise it's incredibly foolish and deeply condescending to be so coy.

Rodak is not the only one questioning Pegula.

The media, in fact, is being too polite about it. Not only is Terry Pegula a terrible owner, he's lying to you. Certainly talking out of both sides of his mouth. But, hey, he's got money and kept the team in Buffalo. He must be right up there with Elvis or something.

What are the Bills supposed to do?

Publicly insult the man, and come out and say they fired Whaley because he made a terrible trade for a glass slipper in Sammy Watkins, and totally **** the bed with the 2013 first round pick of EJ Manuel?

The truth is harsh and very few people want to hear it.

As an owner, you don't throw your former GM under the bus....it's smart business.

It's a good article about the oddity no matter, and there was oddity in what Pegula said.

I don't really have an opinion.

On one hand, Pegula makes himself look vague with his manner of speaking which carries the implication of unfocused, true or not, and let's face it, with the hires and fires, the perception of determined focus would carry a lot more weight. There's not any harm in speaking the obvious, we're unhappy with personnel facets. I mean they just cleaned out personnel so everyone can see that.

On the other hand it doesn't really matter. I can see for myself they were getting too many temp fa's and not having enough drafted player impact, the cap issues of a contender while not being one, lack of GM identity in blowing with the wind draft to draft without longterm plan. Won't matter what the perception of Pegula is if it works.

You're not going to see Whaley as a GM again. He'll head back to pro personnel imho and be fine at it under better direction.

                    You have no respect.

The Pegula's are the only reason why Buffalo is making a comeback today.

They introduced free market capitalism to a region hell bent on government socialism.

Without the Pegula family, WNY would be a very lonely place to live without the Bills and Sabres.

All of the new apartments, hotels, restaurants, housing development and new businesses being created in downtown Buffalo for the first time since I've been alive is all directly related to the Pegula family and their investment in Buffalo.

                    Don't sell them short.

Here's a comment that should frighten the heck out of most ....

Get ready Buffalo fans. Chapter 1 of the “Kroenke World of Sports Management”. Explain nothing, avoid everyone and if the minions are caught have them deny, deny, deny. You will be moving soon. Has McDermott every been involved in a relocating franchise?

Why throw Whaley under the bus unnecessarily?

It hardly makes the search for a new GM any easier.

Tbh, I feel it's another one of those situations, where they aren't under any obligation to explain why.

While I'm not convinced about what has been done, the simple answer to give, is that results haven't been good enough.

You can also read between the lines, if you read the transcript, where Pegula says that he didn't hire Whaley.

Even if Pegula gave chapter and verse about why he canned Whaley, and all the other personnel guys and scouts, half the fans wouldn't believe him anyway, and make up their own agenda to suit, so why bother?
