    LB Gerald Hodges visited

Didn't see anything about it. Per Adam Schefter on Twitter, Hodges visited yesterday.

He had some speed coming out of college, not sure if that's intact. I'm guessing he would play outside this year and would start over Humber or Milano. I don't like our OLB situation as is. This would help, I think.

He's been mostly used as a ILB, but actually came to Penn State as a safety. High character guy - middling athleticism. Different college scouting reports differ quite a bit on his abilities. One thought he was good in zone coverage and terrible in man coverage. Another said he was good in man coverage. He's not a big linebacker, but I don't think McDermott's system places a premium on size. He's variously listed as 6'1" - 6'2" and 235-240 lbs. He ran a pedestrian 4.78 40 at the combine when he came out of college.
I've made up my mind. Don't confuse me with the facts.

I'm the most reasonable poster here. If you don't agree, I'll be forced to have a hissy fit.

Hodges was actually on my FA targets/wish list in January, kinda surprised he's still available.

Ahh... the 4.46 I saw was in high school. He got bigger and slower, I guess.

He probably weighed 175-180 in high school.

Right..... I didn't notice that was his high school time when I first saw the info. People can weigh 235 and still run in the mid 4's.

Not many.........how many 230lb guys have run under 4.5 over the past decade at the combine? I'm thinking not many.

Hodges could represent a good find this late in free agency. The 26-year-old is coming off the best season of his four-year career, starting 12 games and making 83 tackles, three sacks and two interceptions. In 584 defensive snaps, he posted the eighth-highest overall grade of any inside linebacker, according to analytics web site Pro Football Focus.

Nice signing. Very well could end up starting outside.
