Georgio estephan has two days to be signed it he becomes a free agent. Estephan was a late round pick, but absolutely tore up the WHL after being drafted. Many consider him a possible late round gem. I couldn't believe that the sabres could just let this guy's rights expire, but the clock is ticking and from as far as I can tell he's not even on botterills radar. What gives?

If you're going to call not signing a draft choice, who a previous GM drafted, a failure, then you have to count signing Antipin as a success. And it came first.

The chatter from WHL sources is non existent. Almost always there's chatter about it

2015 six round pick from the WHL who exploded after he was drafted. Some scouts believed he could be a top six forward it his development continued

I don't get at least not trying with Estephan. Apparently they have few than 50 under contract and if nothing else he can play in Rochester for three years

Unless there is a huge hole in his game that can't be fixed it doesn't seem to make sense, but apparently neither Murray or Botterill felt he was worth it

Which is odd. The feeling I got was he was a better player than his draft spot indicated.

But overall, I guess lots don't feel it's a massive loss. Still. I wish he had been signed

He had a six-game tryout with Rochester following the 2015-16 season, putting up one goal.

Buffalo selected Estephan in the sixth round of the 2015 NHL Draft, making him part of a six-person class. The Sabres have signed three of the draftees – center Jack Eichel and defensemen Brendan Guhle and Devante Stephens (http://buffalonews.com/2017/04/26/sabres-sign-defense-prospect-stephens-three-year-deal/) – and they still hold the rights to college players Will Borgen and Ivan Chukarov.
