    John Clayton out at ESPN

    John Clayton out at ESPN

Posted by Michael David Smith on May 31, 2017, 9:15 AM EDT
ESPN has let go of yet another longtime NFL reporter.
John Clayton, who has covered the NFL for ESPN for 23 years, has been laid off, according to Sporting News.
Clayton’s ESPN Radio show in Seattle will remain in place, as the local ESPN Radio affiliates are not actually owned by ESPN. But he is done covering the league for ESPN on television and on ESPN.com.
ESPN is laying off about 100 employees. Clayton joins a list of many laid-off ESPN workers who are recognizable to NFL fans, a list that also includes Adam Caplan, Andrew Brandt, Trent Dilfer, Ed Werder, Britt McHenry, Ashley Fox and Paul Kuharsky.

If the camera adds 10 lbs., John C. weighs 40 lbs.

And at least 39.4% of that weight consists of his egg-head.

The commercial he did looking like a stoner in his mom's basement was pretty funny.

He's actually quite good. Did a great job in Pittsburgh for years, then moved to Seattle. I know our local WGR sports station talks to him all the time and should continue to do so. He's very well connected and is a good listen. He still has lots of work in Seattle and someone else will scoop him up to write columns.

                    I thought Clayton was fine.

No idea why he's balancing a small glowing orb on top of his head in that pic, though he seems pleased he can do it.

He WAS very well connected and breaking news regularly with another guy there -- I can't remember the name ... diagnosed with cancer ... haven't been on TV for a long time. Now it is Adam Schefter, Ian Rapoport, etc. new generations dominating NFL news.
