Now he’s eager to prove he’s worth a lot more than that.
Brown told ESPN that he has his sights very high — on the NFL’s Defensive Player of the Year award.
“I want to win the defensive MVP (http://www.espn.com/blog/washington-redskins/post/_/id/31476/zach-brown-eyes-defensive-mvp-says-he-can-play-with-the-best-of-them),” Brown said.
Brown thinks that with a huge year, he can send a message to the 31 teams that didn’t sign him.
“I’ll make other head coaches pay for not drafting me or picking me up,” Brown said. “I feel [people] still don’t respect me, so for me I have to prove myself again. I always play with a chip on my shoulder. If you don’t respect my game, I will make you respect my game. I can play with the best of them. I’m not just another linebacker that can be replaced. I feel I’m one of the top guys in the league at inside linebacker. I can do everything.”
Those are big ambitions. Washington would love to see Brown live up to them.

He has as much of chance being the DMVP as Tyrod has of being the OMVP.

He's not DMVP but I would have liked him back for the deal Washington gave him

Nothing wrong with that in my book. Motivation is always good. Countless athletes tanks after getting paid because they lose motivation.

The former Bills GM Tom Donahoe had a famous point: "Money changes people." And that is probably the biggest unknown for college players to NFL, a jump from no money to a millionaire over night. The 2nd contract, from 1 or 2 millions to 40 or 100 millions is not that much a jump -- life style is already established.

Agreed, but I want every guy on the D playing like they have a legit shot at DMVP. It's excellent motivation.

Not real sure why anyone would gripe about Zach Brown making the money Washington gave him after the season he had here in a junk Rex defense and saying he wants to be the DMVP unless you have sour grapes we didn't keep him for a defense we didn't want to keep him for.

I don't think he will be the DMVP, but I'll nearly guarantee he has a better year across the board than any of our LB's at an affordable price.

I appreciate what he did here. My best to him.

I still think we should have kept him.
