Are the Capitals done?

My dad adopted the Caps when he moved to Northern VA. He came up for the holiday today and we were talking hockey- he thinks the Caps are done. They lost Alzner and Shattenkirk be they have so much cap tied up in Ovechkin and Kuznetzkov (after he ****ed them with the KHL card).

Ovechkin puts up numbers but doesn't come through when it counts most.

So thoughts? Did the Caps miss their window or do they still have a shot before they need to hit the reset button?

That is still a playoff caliber roster. All you need is to get to the dance. Nashville was the 16th seed. They have an excellent goalie and some good forwards. Not super excited about the D but I think Alzner was pretty overrated and not worth what the Habs are paying him. I think they are most likely on the downward slide but still think they have a shot.
