After 17 seasons, former Buffalo Sabre Brian Campbell has announced his retirement from the NHL.

Campbell also put in time with San Jose, Chicago(with one Stanley Cup championship to his credit)and Florida.

Of course, Campbell is best remembering for dropping The Hit on R.J. Umberger during the 2006 NHL playoffs.

Once a Sabre, ALWAYS a Sabre.

Incidentally, Campbell has taken a position in the Hawks front office; per NHL.com, he'll assist in marketing, community relations and youth hockey programs.
