    Raiders look crowded at kickoff returner

    The Raiders ran a little thin on bodies to return kickoffs last year, finally settling by default on somebody who had to learn on the job.

    This year, they are taking no chances and loading up on kickoff return candidates. Among the more intriguing is Ronney Jenkins, who led the league in total return yardage (1,541) and yards per try (26.6) two years ago with the Chargers.

    "He brings experience to us," special teams coach Bob Casullo said after Wednesday's workout in Napa. "He had an off year last year, had 925 yards. The guy knows what he's doing when he gets the ball."

    The dates are circled on Ronney Jenkins' calendar, but the Oakland Raiders' new kickoff return specialist doesn't really need any help from a calendar to remind him when he and his Raiders teammates will battle with his former team, the San Diego Chargers.
