Anybody old enough to remember Jim Plunkett's days with the Raiders (or older, like me, remember him as a Patriot) can recall long bombs. Plunkett is part of 1970's football lore.

In NE it was Plunkett to Daryl Stingley, Randy Vataha, and tight end Russ Francis. In Oakland it was Plunkett to Cliff Branch, our old friend, Bobby Chandler, or tight ends like Dave Casper & Todd Christensen.

Apparently all that football has caught up with the 69 year old Plunkett. Memories. He was fun to watch.

I remember him dropping back and cocking that arm getting ready to throw a bomb like yesterday.

Even though they were very different players, Plunkett was always lumped in with Archie Manning back in the day for me, because of their situations certainly not their skill sets. Fortunately for Jim he was able to get separation from NE and eventually enjoy some real team and individual success.

As far as his comment, pretty sure we all know people that are dealing with taking multiple prescriptions per day without having the opportunity to play a game for a living and make pretty good bank.

Ouch. Everything is relative, I guess.
