Will Cam Newton be able to play against the Bills Week 2?

Newton's still not throwing.

http://pantherswire.usatoday.com/2017/08/04/panthers-2017-training-camp-cam-newton-does-not-throw-again/

"Friday night’s practice was the fifth straight day of no throws for the former MVP..."

"If Cam is unable to return to throwing on Sunday, it may be a sign of more lasting damage."

Practice starts shortly after 3pm today.

Carolina finished 6-10 last year.

After 15 games played in 2016, Cam Newton had a 52.9% completion percentage, 19 TD's, 14 Int's, and 3,509 passing yards.

When did Cam Newton hurt his throwing arm?

After going to the Super Bowl in 2015, the Carolina Panthers started 1-5 in 2016.

And now that passing drills have begun Cam Newton is NOT throwing. Looks like he will be a spectator again today.

Injuries, and the timing of those injuries can have a huge impact on team records over the course of a season, and not just on the team that experiences the injury. Cam Newton's athleticism plays a critical role in what the Panthers try to do offensively. I know fans like to see their team take on opponents who are at their best, but in the NFL you take your wins however you can get them. Even if Newton can come back and play by week 2, he will not have had any opportunity to develop any timing or chemistry. Expect Sean McDermott to be extra aggressive whether he's facing a Newtonless Panthers team or a subpar Newton. This gives the Bills a better chance to start the season 2 - 0 and maybe generate a little momentum for what was potentially a pretty difficult stretch at the start of the season.

Cam took a hellacious beating last year...to the point that it was tough to watch for me. I don't think he's the the same guy the year he took Carolina to the Super Bowl. I like the Bills' chances going there in Week 2.

He will probably be wearing a S cape and we get killed coming off our slaughtering of the Jets, it's going to be a long winter.

remember this is the buffalo bills.

we're the type of team which gives career nobodies their one glorious moment in an otherwise short and unremarkable career. If Newton is injured and unable to play, I fully expect this to herald some little known backup player to pull a hero and have an nfl mvp award winning game while beating the bills.

Like Kurt Warner taking over his game 1 as a St. Louis Ram, they became unstoppable.
