    RJ Comments on Flutie/Johnson Controversy.

I was an RJ guy at the time. Wow is all I can say about this.

I was an RJ guy also; he had a few great games here. Flutie really benefitted by playing with some GREAT defenses here. By the end of his tenure, he was turning the ball over a lot, especially in the red zone.

Rj padded stats when the game was over, Flutie on the other hand had that russel Wilson intangible of making a play when it was most needed

Your personal stats dont matter if you are not able to get your teammates to play hard for you.

That IMO was the difference between Flutie and RJ. Even Reuben Brown kinda said something to that degree.

When you dink and dunk and would rather take a sack than throw, you stats will look good to some degree.

Talking about Tyrod on the other thread throwing only to open receivers is the same.

Flutie didn't have an arm but he didn't have a problem throwing to a covered Moulds who made Flutie look better.

Enough of the RJ crap. RJ is a legend involved in another sport.

Agreed. It was sorta annoying to open up a RJ thread and see Ron Johnson.

As an RJ at the time, and admit to co creating a website called Flutie Haters, I don't know what the Wow is for? Everything RJ stated is truth. To the people don't think the team played hard for RJ I need to ask do you remember the great offensive performance had against the Rams in Week 3 of 1998 that we only lost because RJ got hurt and wasn't able to complete the game and Doug couldn't run out the clock? Or that RJ lead the Bills to a win against the undefeated 49ers in Week 4? Or that the offense put a clinic against the Saints in the 1998 season finale and again in the 1999 season finale against the Colts that Doug lost to in Week 1? Of course not because they're blurred because of the media hype surrounding the little engine that could that was Flutie. Say what you want but RJ played well for a QB with 1 NFL start when he came here but his biggest downfall was his inability to stay healthy.

What a wonderful discussion ... What car was better? Mercury Lynx or Ford Escort - oh yeah, they were pretty much on the same level of suck-ability

If you went to camp and saw him and Bledsoe sthrowing the ball, you thought we were strong at QB.

                    Then the real games started..and...ugh..

It is sad to see that RJ is still carrying some anger over something that happened almost 20 years ago.

Both QBs had their limitations however if RJ had a better internal clock, the Bills under him would have been a perennial playoff team. His limitation was he held the ball too long and took way too many unnecessary sacks and hits which led to his constant injuries. If he had changed/learned/adapted to holding the ball for a second or second and a half shorter, there would have never been the Flutie vs RJ situation. That's all on him.

                        LOL that was you?

That site got some traction on the old AOL Bills forums in the late 90s.

Flutie was a great competitor who knew how to win. RJ was not.

I'd take Flutie, with all of his limitations, any day over Golden Boy RJ.
Should have known, way back in 1960 when we drafted Richie Lucas Number 1, that this would be a long, hard ride. But who could have known it would be THIS bad?
