    Bills Net Gain/Loss Today

    GAIN

    EJ Gaines, CB, LAR
    Jordan Matthew, WR, PHI
    2nd Round Pick, LAR
    3rd Round Pick, PHI

    LOSS

    Sammy Watkins, WR
    Ronald Darby, CB
    6th Round Pick

So we basically swapped Sammy for Jordan, Darby for Gaines, and got a 2nd and 3rd round pick for a 6th. After the initial shock of this news, I'm liking it more and more.

I think you lose some talent in both of the player swaps. Pretty clear to me that this team is going to redo its rebuild...again.

I feel like we got really bad for 2017, for the potential to slightly improve in 2018.

Here's the caveat. Sammy has shown the ability to be dominant. If he stays healthy, the Rams win this trade a million times out of a million. That's a BIG if, however. Sammy has been 100% healthy for what, 3 games his entire NFL career? He hurts himself trimming his toenails for crying out loud.

This seems pretty clear. Although, I'm not sure if the loss in talent will show up much on our W/L record.

Two 1sts, two 2nds, two 3rds next year. Gimme the butter, baby.

Darby for Gaines is a wash, if not better on the Bills end, IMO.

Matthews for Sammy is a loss, yes. However, not a huge one considering Sammy's injury history, his foot, etc.

They're gonna have to give him Julio money, also. That's something that I doubt we would've done. Sammy would be gone in 2018 regardless.

Based on what? Gaines was burnt toast last year.

Gaines allowed the most TD's of any CB last year.

                        Net losers, through and through.

This smells like Lynch all over again.

Ragland probably gets traded next for a 6th or 7th. And then Holmes, Ducasse, and Davis will get cut so they can get another 3rd round pick. Might as well just trade Taylor and McCoy at this point too since the goal now seems to be stockpiling picks for 2018 and throwing in the towel for 2017. They can tank the season with Peterman and finally get the QB they really want and purge the team of all Whaley players.

If we're truly going to tank, then let's at least do this right and stockpile picks in 2018, 2019, and 2020.
