I won't be surprised to see Ragland traded to a team better suited to his skill set.

Maybe to SF or Washington...

Trade value is virtually zero especially since he hasn't fully come back from injury. A sixth or seventh round at best.

They absolutely should. You saw some of his instincts on Thursday night on a few occasions when he stopped thinking and let his natural instincts took over. He's not a good fit and maybe you can get a 4th or 5th for him. May as well shoot for getting two picks in every round at this point.

I think I've had about enough of flipping guys for pennies on the dollar. With any type of investment, you're supposed to acquire assets and move them for more than their original purchase price, not the other way around.

Unless you realize that your investment is going to only depreciate, then you move it as fast as possible to avoid losing anymore capital.

True, but you can't panic and sell too quickly either. Ragland has, what, only a couple series of game tape? If he was a 12-year veteran trying to pick up a new system that he never played in, I could see writing him off as a bad fit, but I would think a young guy like that would be able to adapt.

Kinda, but its not like he's never played football before. His ability was evaluated extensively at Alabama and there was near universal agreement that he's a player who doesn't have the skillset to work in 43 defensive formation.

Players who are adaptable traditionally are excellent athletes and skills that can transfer from system to system. Ragland isn't either of those. That's not to say he's a bad player, he's just not a good fit in a 43 system. As a 34 ILB where he can just be asked to plug holes and tackle then he'll be good.

If they can get something for him, move him. But I don't know by anyone would give up even a sixth or seventh knowing we are going to cut him and they can get him for nothing

Ragland will stay because there's no value to be gained... However, Skooby's sources tell me Tyrod Taylor is next on the list.

Tyrod for another 1st...I'd do that and let Peterman play with Kapernick as the backup.

Also cut ties with Yates and 2 other of our FA signings... Get that compensatory 3rd round pick.

I'm a big Bama fan and really like Ragland but he'd be next on my list. IMO they could get a fourth out of somebody that could turn into a third depending on performance.

Wasn't he leading tackler against the Vikings?

Tied with Elston for 6 total tackles, though Elston had more solo tackles (5 v 4).

Let's just trade every QB we have and run the triple option.

Rgland has no trade value. I'd be interested in seeing him play some more if he really is 100% healthy. I think he has a chance to be effective in goal line/short yardage situations and maybe against 2 TE 1 FB sets.

Anyways, to have any trade value at all I would think he would have to have a good 2017 season and at least be somewhat productive and healthy. Possibly after 2017 he could be traded straight up for another player that doesn't fit another team's system or a high draft pick that didn't produce, like the Sheppard-Hughes trade a few years back.
