The Dolphins are down a starting cornerback.

Tony Lippett has a torn Achilles tendon and will miss the entire season.

Lippett, who started 13 games last season, was a 2015 fifth-round draft pick of the Dolphins. He suffered the injury during Monday’s practice.

The injury is a significant blow to the Dolphins’ defense and special teams: Lippett played 75 percent of the Dolphins’ defensive snaps and 36 percent of the Dolphins’ special teams snaps last season.

No team ever does well losing their starting QB and a starting CB in pre-season.

That's a sizable loss for the Fish.

And NE sleep walks into another AFC East title. We almost had a shot at this.

They also lost their starting middle linebacker.

Quickly, trade Tre'davious White to them for a 2nd next year.

Yeah, stockpile em draft picks.

Maybe they'd be interested in trading for Ragland.

Sweep the jets and fins, split NE, go 5-5 outside division. Crazy?

For what purpose?

Do you see this team as a contender?

If all our opponents are having injuries left and right, of course.

If we did make the play-offs (subdue your chubby since we will NOT), we will be one and done.

This team is NOT ready yet to make a legitimate play-off run.

Why can't **** like this happen to the Patriots!

Remember the season that Brady went down and Matt Cassell became the new craze?

That's like the only season they missed the playoffs this millennium, remember?

I remember an 11-5 record, two victories over Buffalo and a team that the Bills couldn't touch.

So you have no place to bring up "no play-off." When was the last time the Bills were 11-5 let alone with a back-up QB?

I thought that was an outside possibility before the Sammy trade. Now I don't see it happening.

I think they would have anyway.

Jets are going to be terrible, as planned, and the Bills look to maybe do the same.

The Dolphins SCREAM flop to me this year. Lots of goofy wins last year, could have easily been 7-9 or worse.

Why? You thought that Sammy playing half a season meant playoffs for them?

The Patriots didn't make playoffs in 2002 as well

We beat up on them that year, I think.

You thought wrong... The Pats beat the Bills 38-7 in Buffalo and beat the Bills 27-17 in Foxboro

Not only did they go 11-5 that year--narrowly missing the playoffs--but, off the strength of Cassell's performance that season, they were later able to trade him away to the Chiefs, in exchange for a first round draft pick.

They lost out on a tiebreaker with the Dolphins. That was the season they whipped out the wildcat and the Cheaters had no answer for it.

Dolphins have all kinds of injury problems: Dolphins may not have Kraig Urbik for start of regular season (http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2017/08/21/dolphins-may-not-have-kraig-urbik-for-start-of-regular-season/)

Looks like the AFC East will be a race for the bottom between the Jets, Dolphins and Bills.
