We have drafted 72 players. 14 are still on the roster, 5 of them from last year. 29 are out of the NFL or not signed.

It's a minor miracle that this team has gone .500 over the last three years, given the draft history over the last five.

I could've done a better job simple by purchasing some random "Draft Preview" magazine at Walgreens the day of the draft....

I know we would have Russel Wilson, Khalil Mack, Reuben Foster, Bruce Irvin, AJ Green, and Gronk

This is just what I remember wanting at each pick regardless of how things are now. I also wanted Geno over Ej, and Brooks Reed really badly

Yeah the true awfulness of our drafts isn't who we took. It's the guys who went 3-5 picks later that we could have had instead.

I'd love to see other teams numbers for comparison

Compared to New England, its not to good.

27 drafted guys played for New England last year
1 drafted guy was on PUP/IR for New England last year
18 drafted guys played for an NFL team other than New England last year

Interesting Factoid (per last years Super Bowl game book http://www.nfl.com/liveupdate/gamecenter/57167/ATL_Gamebook.pdf)

16 of the 22 New England starters were drafted by the Patriots, or signed as UDFA by the Patriots
4 of the 22 were from other teams
2 of the 22 were former Buffalo Bills - Hogan & Allen Branch

I would like to know how many of our draft picks are still playing for other teams.

That's the tell-tale stat.

Yeah... would say a lot about our culture, ability to develop players, free agent decisions, etc

A few years ago we were at the top of the league in this stat. Bills had drafted more starting players in the NFL than any other team, most were playing for other teams. I cant remember what year they put that on the broadcast. Maybe 2014? That of course does not include the ability to draft stars, just decent players.... but also showed how we let home grown talent leave and become better elsewhere. Peters, Lynch are good examples of top 5 guys at their positions we discarded to keep re-signing the Chris Kelsay's of the world.

From 07 til now, there are 18 guys the Bills drafted who play for other teams. 8 likely starters. And then guys like TJ Graham who is somehow fighting for a roster spot with the Panthers.

Let's just do away with the delusion that the Bills are some farm team for the rest of the NFL, they just don't draft well.

It's only a delusion if the stats dont back it up. Last time I saw all the numbers for the league we were at the top of the list.

What's the shelf life of most NFL players? 2.5-3 seasons. You're talking about 10 years which a long time in the NFL. I mean it's been 9 years since Edwards took the Cardinals hit that people felt destroyed his career for what it's worth.

CIN has 39 players that they drafted on their roster as of today.

But that's a reflection of how their owner operates. A player can stink to high heaven. Cutting him makes sense for 31 other clubs.

But for the owner, eating a contract for the betterment of the team is a cardinal sin.

So a Marvin Jones, a Sanu, an Andrew Whitworth, a Zeitler, a Reggie Nelson leaves...well, by gum, we have other players under contract, so there will be no nonsense about buying a better player.

The Bengals are the best team for bum players. Your contract will run its' course.

Without data to compare with other teams this stat is meaningless.

10 years is a long way to look back. Not many players are still in the league period after 10 years. What's the average career length? 3 or 4 years maybe?
