Don't understand this move.

What's the point in keeping Brandon Tate then?

They now have 2 WRs who can't actually play WR.

Don't like this move, at all. Just doesn't add up to me, value wise. Even assuming Seymour is only going to be a backup, he's not going to be a bad backup CB, whereas we are getting a WR of no note at all, and a 7th round pick in return. Seymour was actually a 6th round pick, and I still think he represents good value at that.

I'm fine with it. Looks to me like they got rid of someone they didn't think was going to work out well for a "maybe" and more importantly, a draft pick if only a 7th.

Streater had a good camp with the Bills, he was released with injury settlement. Not uncommon for a team to do this to save an active roster spot without using IR for a guy who only has a few weeks worth of injury, then sign him again when healed. I think he'll be back to replace whoever isn't working out in the WR Group by the time he's healthy.

If they want to re-sign Streater, they have to wait until three weeks after the agreed upon length of time to recuperate from the injury...other teams can approach him immediately after.

Hm, actually I think it's 6 weeks : https://overthecap.com/what-exactly-are-injury-settlements/

Forgot about that. Bye bye Streater. Damn shame. Clay better be able to catch then.

I envision Clay as a Goodwin type who will get a few chances to run deep and see if he can bring the ball in. 10.44 100 meters in HS. Blazing fast. Much faster than Tate, who may be cut.

Tate is a gamer. He's not a big star but he's a decent player who is a good ST guy, a fair WR. Good clubhouse guy.

CIN saw value in him - jack of all trades, so to speak.

I guess BUF sees the same. So they kept him. He's a good football player, who adds to the team.

I went to Panthers site and fans liked Clay but they are just really deep at WR so he wouldn't have seen the field much. They are thin in the secondary so this trade could work for both teams. Was Seymour's camp that great because it looked like he wasn't starting?!

FYI Panthers still frustrated that we have Beane and McDermott.

#5 & #6 WR can always be your kick returners. That's part of the job description for #5 & #6 WR.

Sal is wrong, as per usual, Clay didn't see the field at all during the regular season last year.

His stats are from two years ago on Baltimore, all returning.

Still a baffling move for a team that could use an actual WR. Instead two of the WRs on this roster are now return specialists.

Unless Tate is moved, I still don't get the move.

Tate will return kicks and Clay will return punts. That's the only sense I can make of it.

Looking at their stats, it would seem that Tate is the better punt returner, his avg. was 11.6 yds. with 8 returns going for 20 or more yards on 26 returns. Clay's last season (2015) his avg. was 10.6 yds. and he had 2 returns for 20 or more yds. on 23 returns. Tate also had 2 returns of 40 or more yds, while Clay had one. Of course those are just stats, I've never seen Clay return a punt, so don't know if he would be an upgrade. He did miss 2016 with a foot injury though and that could be a concern.

Either way I don't think that there'll be that much a difference between the two, that was worth getting rid of Seymour, who would of at least provided depth in a secondary that doesn't look very strong as it is.

His only action in the league so far was with Carolina last year when he returned 23 punts for 244 yards and a touchdown. His 10.6 yards per-return average ranked fourth in the NFL.

Whoa! When did Beene trade two first and a forth for the only miss at WR to come out of the 2014 1st round? That goes down as one of the top 5 worst trades in Bills history. Beene trades have been bad, but, he has a ways to go before he reaches Doug Whaley status of incompetents.
