I think these are national games so catch a look if interested.

Mississippi St./LSU
Nick Fitzgerald runs too much but up and comer

Oregon/Wyoming
Justin Herbert Vs. Josh Allen

I like Herbert a LOT, problem he's not going to Thanks be available for a couple of years. He's the star here, Josh Allen I just am not a fan of. bonus Royce Freeman RB beastly.

Clemson/Louisville
Lamar Jackson. Fun college player, going to get killed in the NFL I fear.

Josh Rosen fails to deliver on final chance to win it. He had 463 yards passing. UCLA had 633 total yards. Big win for the Memphis 35 year old coach. Riley Ferguson is a QB to watch. 398 yards and 6 TD passes.

Darnold has 6 INT's already and something like 13 in his last 9 games. I'm not following any blind hype until he shows more poise. Makes too many bad decisions.

Rudolph, Mayfield and Rosen are the best so far.

Saw the pick-6 Darnold threw and it was all on the receiver. Hit him at chest height in stride across the middle and the receiver just plain let it bounce off his hands. On the final drive, he was swarmed in and threw an amazing jump pass that put them in field goal range to tie it. That kid is legit.

But the drive (or two) before that he made a criminal decision that resulted in another INT that could of cost USC the game. Darnold's issues are almost entirely his own doing, he has so much talent but appears to have some really bad mechanical tendencies.

Darnold has the clutch gene. He makes plays in the pressure situations with the game on the line, and that is what separates the qb's. He did it again last night. He did it in the Rosw bowl against Penn St. Kid has the "it" factor.

He also helped to create the situation that required clutch last night. If he had played all night the way he did on those final two drives then Texas isn't within 3 scores of USC, but he didn't have a good night overall and that shouldn't be ignored because he finished strong. Same situation as Rosen in Week 1.

Luke Falk. 37/49 396 yards 6 TDs.

I'm a fan of Darnold. This year will be interesting though, because last year his offense had a ton of experience. Not as much this year, and it showed against Texas because the OL struggled to protect him.

To me, the idea of the elite QB is dying. It was Manning/Brady for a while. Who is succeeding them? Rodgers is the closest I've seen. Everyone else is just good to very good. Darnold would be one of those, in my book, and he does seem to have the elusive "it" factor.

k-oneputt
09-17-2017, 09:23 PM

I'm not saying he's perfect. His throwing motion is a little long and his footwork is sloppy at times. He throws from a lot of different arm angles but he is pretty accurate. He can work on those things and he will with NFL coaching . What he does have is poise, a calmness when the pressure is at it's greatest, the big stage and bright lights don't bother him, he doesn't shrink in the moment, he rises and his teammates believe in him. Clutch. The "it" . Few have it.

Luke has some quirky mechanics and the system allows him to produce video game numbers but he's the most accurate passer I've ever seen.

Whether or not his ability will translate to the pro game remains to be seen but he's a guy worth taking a chance on outside of the first round.

I think he's got plenty of arm. He's no Jeff George for sure but he has more than enough for the NFL.

I like several things about him, he has risen to the occasion against good teams with lots of future pro talent on them, he is very elusive and accurate on the run, he's fiery, looks like a leader, makes smart decisions, can run a little but always looks to throw first. He's a winner, he has "it".

What I don't like, he's a little short (but so are Drew Brees and a Russell Wilson Dak Prescott?) and he's a little too cocky at times...he MUST tone that down.

If draft were today my draft board for QB would have Rudolph, Darnold, Mayfield in that order.

Here's a highlight reel of Mayfield BTW...a few 40-50 yard (in the air) throws he didn't have trouble making.

Mayfield has some Kelly's mentality and I love his fire. However, whether he can succeed at the next level with his Tebow-ish style is still a question mark.

I believe our GM. coach, and scouting department will be looking for a pocket passer. More of having that unique sense of pocket awareness (can't be taught) than move around and make plays.

I think all the back ups in front of Darnold aren't helping him much either.

My takeaway from this game is I'm not liking Luke Falk at all. Of course he's hitting at 70+ % most of his passes are designed to go like 6 yards. I don't see enough arm and he holds the ball way too long. I get a Rob Johnson vibe from this dude...except with a noodle arm instead of Johnson's cannon...

Well, it looks to me at least like Falk has a good arm, but the "holding the ball too long" part looks critical. If he does that from the shotgun in an air raid offense, under center in a pro offense, he's going to be tragic.

Darnold is certainly affected by the line injuries, but looks like he needs more college experience.

They both look like they're going to struggle with the pro game pace and competition (to me).

This kids talent is going to translate to a top 15 pick in April...hopefully to the Bills.

If we can take chances on jabronis like Maybin, Flowers, Williams,Mckelvin,Losman, we may as well roll the dice on a better than 50/50 imho that unlike the other names has been undeniable in college.

Maybe. I might end up looking stupid for saying it, and I'm not saying we shouldn't take a QB early, depending, but I'm not sure we don't already have a better QB that can translate to pro in Peterman. Talent gets players selected early and offers hope (or fantasies) but I'm still not convinced shotgun talent translates. Still think we're not so much looking for "The One" as committing to someone who can push Peterman as a backup. I don't mind being heckled if I'm wrong and there's a lot of season to go yet.
