Are there even such things anymore. Anytime a good team plays a bad team they call it a trap game now. It used to mean when you played a bad team the preceding week to playing a really good team.

So how is cinci a trap game when the week after if a bye week?

Over the years I've basically come to believe any game I think they should win is a trap game. I think they should be able to beat the Bengals if they could do the Falcons on the road, soooo......

To me, a "trap game" is any situation or distraction that causes a team to be unprepared for an inferior opponent.

The Bills have been better than anyone expected and the national media are singing their praises, plus we have the bye the week after. So this certainly qualifies.

Does that mean they will definitely lose? Of course not. It just means it's gonna take some extra effort to be mentally prepared.

In the NFL? Don't think so. More applicable to college football at this point.

Trap games are for good teams. For teams that have been as bad as the Bills for as long as they’ve been bad there is no such thing as a trap game.

We don’t deserve the benefit of the doubt. We are bad until proven good, then we can worry about trap games.

It depends on who you talk to whether or not "trap games" are a real phenomenon. I think they may be, but I don't think the Cincinnati game fits the definition very well. I'm sure the Bills players have been made aware that they are 3 point dogs in this game. That fact alone probably helps fuel their hunger. There may be some danger from the spending of emotional and physical energy last week playing an elite team, but that says more about Atlanta than it does Cincinnati. As for Cincinnati, I think the Bills should win, but there are things that make me wary. Andy Dalton is not very consistent as a QB, but he has shown the capacity to get hot on occasion. AJ Green is still an elite receiver and Geno Adkins is capable of making Eric Wood have a very long day. I'm not taking anything for granted.

This is pretty much an even game not suitable for the term TRAP

We were a trap game for the Broncos and Falcons. Fortunately they didn’t prepare as hard as they should have. Unfortunately, the cat is now out of the bag and no one will be underprepared to play us anymore which will limit our success until we get some better players, especially on offense.

The definition of 'trap game' is getting over-used, and we're not good enough yet to qualify being considered as a possible victim of one.

I don't think it can apply when the would-be trapped team is the underdog.
