So no dead cap in future years?

So no dead cap in future years? We won't know until the details are out but Rappaport made it seem that way hence only a 6th round compensation.

Schefter adds that depending on how Dareus does, that 6th round pick can become a 5th round pick.

Wow, if the money is gone I guess that's awesome. What a shame he was such a slacker.

I get a feeling the only way this trade got sanctioned, based on its return, is because the Bills are exceeding the expectations for this year. Any regression due to this deal is ok in that scenario because it would still mean they are meeting th expectations for this year.

Who's left at NT? Was he really that bad?

Almost 17m in dead cap next year due to trading two top 5 draft selections, unreal.

Good riddance, he’s a fat slob that wouldn’t work or buy in.

Never thought they could trade that contract
Good job

Would be great if it turns into a 5th.

The 'money' can't 'be gone' from a salary cap perspective, it's an accounting function that can't be treated in that manner.

BTW...big mistake, IMO.

Out of all of the moves this new regime has made so far, this is the one I disagree with the most.

Trust the process, this dude doesn’t come to play full-time so why is he here ?

Dareus had a $16.5M dollar cap hit for next season but we save all of his remaining salary from this seasonThe dead cap hit for next season is around $14.5M, so that’s $2M extra space than if he was playing for us (the $16.5M number) and then you add the ~$5M of this year’s remaining salary. We have about $8.5M extra in total cap space now.

So we can sign a DT for $8.5 mil/season and come out even. From that sense, it doesn't look so bad, and then we're done with it after 2018.

My friend, it is my favorite move.

This guy has been a lazy slob for quite some time and is an urge away from lighting one up and being suspended long term.

With what the Bills are building and what Dareus represents, this is a wonderful trade.

Now, Jags fans can make excuses about how life has been unfair to Dareus when he smokes his next joint, competes in his next drag race, goes to a bar instead of rehab, gets arrested in Alabama or gets sent home from a game for being late.

Maybe...time will tell.

I have a feeling it's going to be closer to Marshawn Lynch v2.0.

True, but what kind of talent are we going to get at $8.5 per year? We may be ok financially, which is a good thing, but I don't think we're going to find comparable talent at that number.

Mace

Wasn't he started to trend up and play better?

I don't know. I think he was treading water, which compared to his previous efforts, made it look like he was trending up. He was playing better because he wasn't just going through the motions, but I don't think anyone can argue he was playing anywhere near his talent level, I mean we saw that years ago. So he wasn't really all in.

I suppose to me, he's still a ticking suspension bomb with shades of apathetic complacent, and probably that conditional 5th/6th is the best they could get for a guy they just didn't figure fit the character of what they want to build. I'm going to miss early career Dareus, but I already did anyway. I won't miss present Dareus, and I'm not expecting him to suddenly start dominating the league down there in sunnier climes where he's going to have more ways to get himself in trouble.

I don't expect his career to end well, and I feel relieved it won't be ending well at our across the board expense, all things considered.

If McD is serious about changing the culture, then I can see why Dareus had to go. He's a potential cancer to those who are serious about winning through hard work and determination.

Yes that made him tradeable. We should all light up a blunt in celebration he’s gone. Mac is building a culture here and fat, lazy and stoned ain’t it. Toodles.
