The PLAYERS are ruining the NFL game - not the officiating, not the scheduling etc.

Wasn't the NFL game played just as hard and close to the same speed in the 80's & 90's? Why do major college teams seem to have fewer injuries and concussions than the NFL? Ever watch the Canadian Football League? It's a fast game with wide open play and tackles. Why don't they have all the concussions?

I believe current NFL players don't have their hearts ahead of their wallets! It's a quick way to earn some money that most fans can't achieve in a lifetime. Get through a few years in the league, get an agent who milks the League for all he can get, take a fall for a concussion, go on IR for awhile with a sprain and then GET A PENSION!

The majority of the current NFL players don't have their heart in the game. Their agents and lawyers do. Very sad for the fans who love the game!

The older players have been saying this for the last 4-5 years. It's not any different in the real world, kids expect everything handed to them. Why, because parents want to be their kids friend not the parent and everyone should get a trophy. The sad part is, too many people are buying into globalism and socialism , but I ask you, when and in what government have the common folk ever benefited from these forms of governments? Make it easy on yourself and ask anyone from Cuba!

I think the game is faster now than it was 30-40 years ago.
Are there fewer concussions and injuries in college ball, or is that just a mis-perception?
Maybe the bigger field and three downs opens up the play a little, resulting in less banging?
It's a good gig, and money certainly is a factor, but I think most guys still play to win and possibly make even more money than they are now.
Guaranteed bonuses and contracts probably have, however, increased the amount of players that 'check out' (at least partially if not totally) after getting paid.
To be honest, I don't know if I blame them, especially with all the new medical findings in the last few years. Get paid, and get out before you become crippled or brain damaged.

I appreciate your honest view. I still believe this new generation of players are playing in the NFL for money, law suits and fame (albeit short lasting) rather than loving the game - football. It's turned so many people off that do love the game of football.

"Players obviously don't care, as evidenced by the fact that they get injured more often than players who have accumulated- at minimum- 3 fewer years worth of hits in a full-contact sport" is a weird argument.

I'm paraphrasing you. What doesn't make sense? NFL players get injured more because they're later in their careers and the toll playing football takes on their bodies is cumulative.

I didn't say anything about 'older' players later in their careers. I'm talking about the 1-3 year players that are making a mess of the NFL game. You have to see it. It's because of the salary cap, lawyers, agents and big - short term - money!!!

I appreciate your comments - I think you 'get it' too!!!!

Yes, you did. You compared NFL players to college players. I've been watching football for a good long while, and I don't remember the last time somebody's collegiate career happened after they played in the NFL.

No numbnuts. Its because the stars are all out. Ratings will drop when packer fans, giant fans, Houston fans, all stop watching their team.
