Greenville, S.C. --- At the fullback position, the Falcons have lost a lot of experience and an equal amount of verbosity.
After sustaining two concussions last season, Bob Christian retired after 10 dutiful years as an NFL fullback, to a life of flying planes and making conversation with anyone willing.
"Bobby'll talk your ear off," said George Layne, Christian's backup for most of the past two seasons.
Layne's new fullbacking cohort is rookie Justin Griffith.
"He's real studious in the meeting room," Layne said of Griffith, "but he doesn't really say a whole lot. It's kind of different."
