Who wants an ulcer? Coach Dennis Erickson doesn't, and that's one reason Eric Heitmann is practicing at center this training camp.
Heitmann, last year's seventh-round pick, rode in on a white horse to rescue the 49ers' offensive line after left guard Dave Fiore went down with a knee injury in the third game of the season.
Heitmann, a Stanford man who grew up on a Texas ranch, is being asked to salvage the line again. With starting center Jeremy Newberry's surgically repaired left ankle still tender, Erickson doesn't want to be left without an able-bodied center....
