    Tuiasosopo an unknown commodity

The best single statistic to explain the Raiders' success in 2002 is this: Marques Tuiasosopo, no passes attempted. Rich Gannon stayed healthy all year, and the Raiders didn't need another quarterback.

Match that statistic with Gannon's age, 37, and it becomes a disturbing sign for the future. The Raiders used a second-round draft pick to get Tuiasosopo in 2001, and two full seasons later, they can't be sure of what they have.

Can he be the first quarterback they've drafted, bred and sustained since Marc Wilson? Does his spectacular college career, undercut in scouts' eyes by a relatively weak arm, hint at another Joe Montana?
