Clark out to make a name for himself

BOURBONNAIS, Ill.--Des-mond Clark remembers walking into the tight ends meeting room at Halas Hall for the first time and putting on an act.

He scanned the walls with pictures of players from years gone by. There was Mike Ditka, that might be Emery Moorehead, I have no clue who that is, it went for him.

''Let's put it this way, I went in there and it was like [pause for long blank stare]. ... 'Oh, OK,''' Clark said.

If the free-agent acquisition plays to the level of his six-year, $9 million contract, it might not be long until his picture is a fixture on the wall and those who follow in his steps won't have to pretend to recognize him. Clark has been a bright spot in training camp so far and has displayed the speed at 6-3, 255 pounds to create mismatches as well as precision route-running ability.
