McClure keeps job as Falcons' starting center

Greenville, S.C. -- One of the Falcons' hot spots going into training camp, the starting center position, is all but decided. Incumbent Todd McClure looks like a lock to keep the job over Roberto Garza.

Garza strained his left triceps last week, and after missing seven consecutive practices because of the injury, he has been limited the past two days.

Garza, in fact, has been working as a backup to left guard Travis Claridge, and Martin Bibla, who began camp as the No. 2 left guard, has been working at No. 2 center.

"We didn't put [Garza] back at center to let his arm heal up, and he needs to get some reps at guard anyway," said offensive line coach Rennie Simmons. "All those guys have got to be flexible, they've got to be able to play guard and center. We need Bibla to have a few more reps at center."
