    Villarrial finds happy hunting ground

BOURBONNAIS, Ill.--Nothing approaches the serenity of deer hunting for Chris Villarrial.

On unspoiled land, the crisp morning air and sunrise bring peace as the sounds of nature and the smell of earth define the experience. It is an almost religious experience, sitting alone for half the day, waiting, watching and wondering, as removed from football as he can be.

Villarrial spends his offseason in Ebensburg, Pa., in the western part of the state, where he purchased 300 acres three years ago. He recently built a half-dozen tree stands for hunting and has started a Belgian workhorse breeding venture.

"It's a break away from it all,'' he said. "This is a very, very stressful game. Hunting is a way for me to be relieved from everything. I go up there and just sit there thinking by myself. Hopefully, you will see that big buck and get that shot.''
