CHENEY - Thunder and lightning rocked the rural expanse bordering Eastern Washington University, delaying the Seattle Seahawks' practice by 45 minutes Wednesday morning.
Matt Hasselbeck wasn't exactly scared, but neither was he at ease. The quarterback still owns a shirt commemorating the date lightning struck him seven years ago.
Hasselbeck was attending a wedding reception in Massachusetts on June 8, 1996, when lightning struck several people at his table. There were no serious injuries and Hasselbeck escaped with only a headache that lingered for a couple days.
That the strike coincided with the beginning of his hair loss made Hasselbeck an easy target for years.
