View Full Version : Ugh, I'm pissed!!

The sports bar that I would frequent every sunday during football season is apparently out of business now. I went down there about 20 minutes ago to see if they still had direct TV so that I could hopefully catch the Bills/Ravens game tomorrow, and the place had a sign up in the window that said "Sorry We're Closed" - at 7:38 pm a bar's closed? Now I've gotta find another, equally reliable place to go and watch the Bills this year. As soon as I got home, I looked in the phonebook, and called a couple of places (it's sad to say, but there weren't any other options listed in the phonebook) - I got no answer from one place, and the other place said they don't have directTV. So then I called up the old place's number and got that annoying noise the phone makes just before it tells you that the number you called is disconnected.

I don't know what the hell I'm gonna do. My uncle's got it, but he's a 9ers fan, a couple of my friend's got it, but one friend's a Raiders fan whose house is crowded every sunday with a lot more friends who are all there to catch a glimpse of their team since they're too lazy to go to the bar that I'd go to (this would be my first choice if they were all Bills fans, but they all like different teams so we're constantly flipping through the channels - and that's just no way to watch the Bills - especially this year) the other friend is also a 9ers fan, and I don't want to impose on him - so, WHAT THE HELL AM I GOING TO DO?

:grind:

I may have no choice but to hit my uncle up, and hope to god the 9ers aren't playing.

! - or maybe, I'll try to find a way to introduce my uncle to my 9ers fan friend and convince one of them to give up their house for a small nominal fee each week (beer money).

None of those places are even within an hour's drive of atwater though.

I'll talk to the guys at hockey on wednesday night - they'll probably know where I can go on Sunday's to catch the games.

I'm especially gonna miss the dumb fin fan who always goes into the bar all cocky, and then leaves as soon as the Bills start kicking the phins @$$es (before I can start my trashtalking).

Guess they don't have Direct TV, eh...

:D

As colin says, you can always get your own! Heck, you can always get a deal on installation. I just saw an ad here locally, D.C. area, for free installation of two receivers and a dish w/ activation. All you need is a SouthWest exposure.

I mean, heck, for less than or about $10/wk. you get Sunday Ticket. The base package is only like $33 or so. It'll replace cable or whatever you have.

Otherwise, you can always go to EB's house to watch it!

As to the Phin fan, just drive around looking for him. When ya see him, just drive by and throw fish entrails at him out the window and yell "Viva La Bills!"

Or as soon as I get license plates for my new civic, I'll tailgate him so he can see my Buffalo Bills license plate holder (you guys didn't think I was gonna let thet go with my car when I sold it did you?).

I've just found one option - if I go to the bar at work, and offer to cover half the cost of NFL Sunday Ticket ($68 give or take $5 - I think) I may be able to get them to order it - but I'll only do that if I can watch all the Bills games.

for god sakes.. just order your own.. you can get the dish set up for like 50 bucks now.. and then you can pay for the nfl ticket in installments.

Commercial establishments don't pay the $179 or whatever for the direct ticket. It will cost the bar around $3000 per season.

Uh never mind.

I'll wait to see what I can find out on Hockey night.

Wow, was I way off!

Check out these prices- they charge on fire code occupancy.

http://www.skywebtv.com/directv-comm.php

If the bar is under 50 people, it's $500,
50 -100 $900
100-200- $1,700
200-500- $2500
500-750- $3000
750-1000-$4000

And my favorite- if your bar can hold 5,000 to 10,000 people, it will cost $15,000 a season

the link has pricing for all the sports packages.

Dozerdog

My original estimate above was more directed at the total sports package my local bar had- which included collegeFB, College basketball, MLB NHL, and NBA

Get your oen, like T says-

for a couple of hundred, get the NFL and NHL packages- and charge your freinds a few bucks (or make them bring the beer).

You will save a ton in the long run- plus there's no waitingon a waitress to get to you, no tips, no potential for DUI on the way home (then you are looking at thousands of dollars)

I walk to work - it's only 100 yards from my house.
