Hugh Douglas did not make a good first impression Saturday night on Jaguars coach Jack Del Rio.
Douglas, the veteran defensive end who landed a $6 million signing bonus from the Jaguars in March, was handled easily by Minnesota offensive tackle Bryant McKinnie during the 12 downs Douglas played in Jacksonville's 16-14 preseason victory.
Del Rio wasn't enthusiastic in his assessment of Douglas' play, saying the former Philadelphia Eagles sack specialist was "very average."
"It was obvious that McKinnie had the upper hand [Saturday] night," Del Rio said yesterday. "In that matchup, the big kid won."
