GEORGETOWN, Ky. -- Carson Palmer never heard of a plantar fascia before, but he has now. Because his was injured, Palmer had to watch from the sidelines at practice Tuesday. He's hopeful one day is all he'll have to miss.
Palmer has been bothered by soreness in the muscle group on the sole of his right foot since a mini-camp in May. Palmer said the tendon ripped Sunday in the Bengals' 28-13 loss against the New York Jets and that it's actually a "good thing" because the normal procedure to fix the plantar fascia is minor surgery to remove or release the tendon. Now, no surgery will be needed (because the tendon was naturally "released" when it ripped), and Palmer is expected to be able to play this Saturday against Detroit in the Bengals' preseason home opener.
