BEREA - The possibility of signing wide receiver Dennis Northcutt to a contract extension seems slim. That's the impression team president Carmen Policy gave Tuesday in a meeting with the media.

Northcutt is entering the final year of his contract, and Policy said Northcutt and his agent, Jerome Stanley, want more money than Kevin Johnson, who received a four-year extension a year ago worth $13.35 million.

``We can't offer that same contract or a contract that's seriously close to Kevin Johnson's to Dennis,'' Policy said. ``Our structure would fall apart. We can't do that. But (Northcutt) can be well-paid within the confines of our structure.''

Northcutt could be an unrestricted free agent after the season. Policy said the team cannot accept the argument that Northcutt deserves the same money as Johnson
