NAPA - Raiders defensive tackle Dana Stubblefield knows all about homecomings at Candlestick Park.

On Dec. 26, 1999, he returned to San Francisco as a Washington Redskin and helped beat his former 49ers team 26-20 in overtime.

Candlestick homecoming No. 2 comes Thursday when Stubblefield faces the 49ers in an exhibition game.

"This one's just a little bit different, because I'm on this side of the bay," Stubblefield said Tuesday. "Just because I've got that silver-and-black uniform on.

"I think it's going to be fine. I'll get a couple boos here and there. But for the most part, people will just say, 'He's a good player. We respect him.' No big deal."

Stubblefield leaves impression

Hey, San Francisco! Dana Stubblefield is doing just fine with Oakland.
The defensive tackle that 49ers general manager Terry Donahue said was starting to lose control of his weight in 2002 before San Francisco cut him in February was throwing his listed 290 pounds around this week.

At the end of one play during a 9-on-7 scrimmage, Stubblefield grabbed 300-pound center Adam Treu with his left hand and flung him three yards.
And by the way, he proudly said he weighs 315.

"Two-ninety? Man, that was back in college," said the affable, 11-year veteran from Kansas. "I can't play at 290 in this league. Can you imagine being 290 trying to go against guys like Lincoln Kennedy (close to 350) and Frank Middleton (probably over 350)?"
