The Steelers haven't a won a football game since, gasp, Jan. 5 of this year. Then again, they've only played two since then.
One postseason loss in Nashville. One preseason loss in Detroit. There isn't yet panic in the streets, but there is a mild sense of angst among the populace in the wake of a 26-13 loss to the Lions on Saturday. Charlie Batch, the Steel Valley High School graduate who grew up following the Steelers and now is their backup quarterback, has picked up on the sentiment. Fifteen years ago, he might have felt the same way. Even now, he's not happy about the way things went in Detroit.

"The bottom line is whether or not you won or lost the game. We lost. You can understand the concern because we didn't win," Batch said Tuesday. "We're down as players. You could sense that at practice. It's like, man, this isn't us. And we picked it up at practice. It was a whole different mentality going into (this week's) practice.

"It was like, OK, reality check. We didn't go up there and win the game. We've got to come out here and work harder. We've got to get ready for Philadelphia."
