Deal believed to be for league minimum
With just a little more than two weeks remaining before their Sept. 7 opener, the San Francisco 49ers have made a late move to strengthen their defensive line, reaching a contract agreement with end Chidi Ahanotu.
The 10-year veteran, who played the 2002 season with the Buffalo Bills, had drawn very little interest in the unrestricted free agent market during the offseason.
Contract details were not immediately available, but it is believed that Ahanotu agreed to a one-year contract with a base salary of $755,000, the league minimum for a player with his tenure. The 49ers will be the fourth team with which Ahanotu has played in the last four years....
