Jets coach Herman Edwards welcomed Vinny Testaverde into his office yesterday morning for a long chat.
They had plenty to discuss.
Starting quarterback Chad Pennington is expected to miss 12 weeks with a broken and dislocated left wrist, putting Testaverde back in the lineup. Testaverde, a 17-year veteran, has plenty of experience as a starter. He will need to rely on all of it.

On Monday, the Jets signed Todd Husak, as the team attempted to bolster a position that was wounded by loss of starter Chad Pennington for at least 12 weeks. Pennington, who could still miss the entire season, fractured his left (non-throwing) wrist in a Saturday preseason game....more

NEW YORK -- Joe Namath knows exactly what Chad Pennington is going through.
When he was the New York Jets' quarterback in 1970, Namath broke his right wrist against the Baltimore Colts and missed the rest of the season. It was the first time Namath ever missed time in the regular-season because of an injury.
The following year, he injured his left knee in the first exhibition game trying to make a tackle on a fumble run back and did not return until late November....more
