I am going to check it out. Looks pretty good. I work in advertising and no one can accuse ESPN of under marketing this show :drunked:

I can’t wait to see the Juiced up Running Back
The cocky QB on Pain Killers
The gang banging other RB
The Angry coach who slightly nutz.
The showboating WR
And the Out of his mind White MLB.

It’ll be a refreshing change on the usual football storylines!

Good list....

Mine is similar

1. Phishes
2. Patsies
3. Jestes
4. Philly (most of my friends are iggles fans and talk smack)
5. hmmmmm probably da bastad Raidas!!!!

This is actually a good subject for a thread.

Like most TV drama’s, it’ll be nice when they stop almost every aspect of football and concentrate more on the love lives and criminal lives of the players.

What did you guys think??????????

Thought it was good myself.....though it was kinda depressing in ways. I wish someone would make a football sitcom about the game. Kinda like the Replacements and The Longest Yard in one.

I liked it. I'll be watching for the whole season. I like that it's behind the scenes without too many actual scripted football scenes - which can't be re-enacted IMO.

It is a t.v. show you know

TedMock

I was listening to an interview with Shapiro (a high up and director of something at ESPN). Anyway, he said "playmakers" was never supposed to be about football, per se. It is and will continue to be a drama. He also said it's not based on any true stories (yeah right).

I saw it for the first time last night. It was OK but I will not go out of my way to see it next week. If I happen to be surfing the channels and I see it, I may tune into it, I may not. It really didn't do anything for me.

Im watching it....I am undecided whether I like it or not....I think I watch it because it involves football and I am obsessed with football right now. I am a little sick of the over usage of the word ***** and the over usage of showing a dudes a$$ and the over usage of showing a needle going into someones knee. I mean....just because you can NOW get away with this stuff on cable doesnt mean you have to do it all the time.

Good points.

There's plenty of needles in a real training room. And painkillers.

I can do without the @ss too. lol

I cringed at how they loaded the RBs bladder with clean piss. I bet that is a real trick.

Agreed!

The commercials were just what it was.

It's a soap opera for football fans, I suppose. Don't know who else would watch that crap. I think I'd rather watch the clouds go by, even if there aren't any.

Won't watch it again. It's not football, it's make-believe soap opera for pop-culture. It has hardly anything to do w/ football. I separate the two completely.

Not to mention it was flat out stupid. Some of you guys must be pretty bored to want to watch it. :)

It was never supposed to be about football, but about drama behind the scenes.

Of course they are going to exaggerate some things. You can’t deny that a lot of their material is gleaned from the real world.

It was still ESPN. So the stripper action COULD have been better. lol

The show sucks. ESPN basicially copied the idea of a show from a British channel who is doing a similar show but about soccer. They also have SOME drug use, girls and all that stuff, but they don't glory it. The drugs they showed the players use is like extesy and not heroin. Playmakers is all about DRUGS. It's getting old. They combine EVERYTHING thats wrong in football and make it one show.

But the thing is, the actually show games on the british show.

LtBillsFan66
09-03-2003, 02:28 PM
I'm GLAD they don't show games. The action is always way to fake.

If it were too too real drama, it would be boring as hell.

I guess you can fake soccer better than football. I mean look at how soccer players fake being dead after getting breathed on and then bounce up 10 seconds later.

Any show that has some stripper tail is OK in this jurisdiction!
