On AMC or TMC on Sunday night they play Silent movies. I've never watched one all the way thru, but I find it neat.

Is The Longest Yard the old Tom Cruise/PA coal mine town movie or the Bert Reynolds/prison football movie?

The Longest Yard was the Burt Reynolds prison movie. Rent it. You won't regret it. When he threw the ball into Ray Nietchke's groin and everyone jumped on him.....Twice.... That was :snicker:

The Freshman

SECOND STRING!!!!

Actually, I love Necessary Roughness. It's not the best football movie but it is fun to watch.

I have seen it. Good movie. The Tom Cruise movie was good too, but not for the football.

Longest Yard. "Mean Machine, Mean Machine, Mean Machine"

I wouldnt really call Jerry Mcguire a football movie....though i liked the movie I believe it was more about being a sports agent and life issues, not so much football.

Heaven Can Wait, with Warren Beatty.

Corkle: Joe...you're playing football with a bunch of Butlers. Were in the Super Bowl...this isnt gonna work!

Pendleton: Relax. I fixed all that....I BOUGHT the Rams!

North Dallas Forty is my personal favorite, followed closely by The Longest Yard (I think he broke his ****in' neck!). As for the lighter fare, The Replacements is great! There's just way too many of my favorite scenes in that one to name. I also liked the Little Giants movie. That one has a cameo from Bruuuuce Smith.

Everybody's All-American (at least I think that is the name - notice I have trouble with these things) was a real good football movie following the career of a college All-American (Dennis Quaid?) to the pros, getting old, and life after football. Shows the difficulties some athletes face when they are no longer "the man."

Yeah, Everybody's All American is a good one. That's one of those films I watched one day when there was absolutely nothing else on cable, and I liked it. I won't give away any good details, but it is interesting to watch him go from college god to star professional runner to aging has been.

Yeah, lot of good story lines in that movie with the wife and the others - how their lives change.
