    Arizona QB better after concussion

TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) -- Jeff Blake was cleared Friday to prepare for the Cardinals' opener a day after the quarterback received a concussion in Arizona's final exhibition game.

Team spokesman Paul Jensen said Blake's injury was mild and would not require further evaluation. The Cardinals open Sept. 7 at Detroit.

Minnesota's Chris Hovan sacked Blake on the first play Thursday night, and Blake's head bounced off the Metrodome turf. Blake was helped to the sidelines, where he remained throughout Arizona's 31-27 win.

Blake, signed to replace Jake Plummer, finished the preseason 21-for-39 for 196 yards and a touchdown.
