DAVIE -- Oronde Gadsden remains in limbo and Robert Edwards was let go for nothing.

Other than those developments, there were few surprises when the Dolphins cut their roster to the regular-season limit of 53.

The Dolphins couldn't reach an injury settlement with Gadsden, who is out with a foot injury, so they placed him on injured reserve to buy some time. They now have five days to reach a settlement or lose the possibility of re-signing him this season....

Oakland cornerback Terrance Shaw can feel Patrick Surtain's pain.

When both were with the Dolphins during the 2000 season, Shaw was afflicted with a knee injury similar to the one Surtain is now trying to overcome for next Sunday's opener against Houston

While Surtain is set to return to practice today, Shaw believes the Pro Bowl cornerback may need the entire season before feeling completely healthy because of the nature of a posterior cruciate ligament injury....

DAVIE -- In the spirit of the mid-1980s teams that showcased Lyle and Glenn Blackwood, another set of brothers will be playing for the Miami Dolphins this season.

Brendon and Obafemi Ayanbadejo survived Miami's final cut to 53 players Sunday. The brothers now have their first opportunity to play in an NFL game together when the season opens Sunday against Houston.

Considered long shots, the Ayanbadejos made the best of their chances in the exhibition season and earned permanent spaces in the locker room....
