Week 1 was pretty brutal for me. I went only 7-8 or .467 (with one tie that is not worth counting because it does not effect winning percentage)

This week, after going through the games my picks inadvertently end up being a home field bonanza, with 14 home team winning. I suspect that several of those home teams I have winning....won’t. :D:

But the Bills will BEAT THE CRAP out of Tennessee. Finally getting them at home, before a rabid crowd on Monday Night (2nd home game on Monday night in 14 years), season home opener, this is going to be fun to watch (and seeing Opi eat crow is the cherry on top :D:)

Anyway, here are my week 2 picks....

<tbody>
Week 2

Los Angeles Chargers at Kansas City Chiefs

Miami Dolphins at Baltimore Ravens

New York Jets at Cleveland Browns

Washington Commanders at Detroit Lions

Indianapolis Colts at Jacksonville Jaguars

Tampa Bay Buccaneers at New Orleans Saints

Atlanta Falcons at Los Angeles Rams

Im liking the Chargers tonight. Mack looked to be a huge addition last week. And I didn't realize how depleted the Cards D was last week.

Well off to a flying start at 0-1 :check:

Some really strange play calling but whatever.

Last week was much better than week 1 for me. I improved to 11-5 (from a dismal 7-8) and now stand above .500 for the season.....18-13, .581. Yeah!!

Week 3 is getting very interesting. With two of the five remaining winless teams playing each other, both of which were playoff teams last year, the loser may be sealing their fate as one of the 2021 playoff teams not getting there this year.

Some factoids from ESPN (https://www.espn.com/nfl/insider/insider/story/_/id/34636333/ranking-0-2-nfl-teams-eliminated-alive-2022-playoff-race-bengals-raiders-titans-panthers-falcons-recover).....

Since 2022, just 9.6% of teams that started 0-2 have made it to the postseason, and while that seems survivable, no 0-2 team has made it to the postseason since 2018.

(and more ominously).....

Since 2002, 98 teams have started 0-3. One of those teams (the 2018 Texans (https://www.espn.com/nfl/team/schedule/_/name/hou/season/2018)) made it to the playoffs....

OUCH!!!!

The Titans looked nothing like a playoff team against the Bills. While the Raiders got burned in OT, they are clearly playing better that Tennessee. I’m picking Las Vegas to pretty much bury the Titans playoff dreams.

Here are my week 3 picks....

Picking games early in the year is really difficult. I had another horrible week with a dismal 7-9 record for week 3. Still barely holding my head above .500 for the year at .532.

Here are my week 4 picks....

<tbody>
Week 4

I’m projecting no undefeated teams after this week.....just the way the NFL wants it.

Miami, coming off a emotional win (that they really did not deserve) against the Bills, their defense is going to pay the price of being on the field for 90 plays, in the heat and humidity. Going against a desperate Cincy, at home, who cannot afford to go 1-3.

I’m picking against the Eagles....just because. So many of the picks the first three weeks that looked like no brainers, turn out the opposite. Why not the Jags gong into Philly and coming out with a win??

Cincy vs Baltimore is the toughest pick that I have been going back and forth with. Ravens losing another game at home would be devastating. But, I can’t get over the fact that Cincy is just the better team. SO...I’m sticking with the Bengals.

I went with the Lions.... and picked the Ravens. My "upset pick" is the Jets over the Dolphins - more wishful thinking than anything. I can't remember who mom picked for those games without pulling up the pick'em website. If I get off work early enough before kickoff I'll get the pics posted.

Yes to that one too.

This week is a perfect example why I never bet actual money on football games.

I change my pick from NE to Detroit, and they get DESTROYED by the Pats.

In my heart, I know that Jets are going to beat Miami. And I don’t follow my gut and lose that one too. It’s irrelevant that Bridgewater got hurt (that was easy to predict ) but that would not have mattered. The Jets were poised to roll....and they did.

With five more games to go, I’m sitting with a dismal 5-6 record. oy vey!

No matter, picking games is still fun. :D:

I caught the last two minutes when I got up to get ready for work and wth? I'm so glad I didn't see this game. Both mom and I picked the Bears to win. It seems like other than week 1 (I'd have to go back and check) - I just can't get the TNF pick right.

I had the Bears also. They had a chance to pull it off, Mooney just needed a clean catch.

What a terrible game. The Bears had several chances to get a win. Fumbling a punt return on their own 6 yard line was inexcusable. Getting inside the Commanders 5 yard line TWICE and coming up with ZERO points was like getting a colonoscopy without a sedative.

Wentz is washed up. He is backup material, if that. Why they don’t play Heinicke (or even Howell) is inexplicable. Looks like Rivera is on the hot seat, or at least should be. The Washington franchise is a ****ing dumpster fire. They take the lead from their scumbag owner.

As the announcers and the post game analysis pounded on, Fields is being completely misused by a rookie HC who is apparently too pig headed to scheme an offense that fits Fields’ obvious elite talent.

This is prefect example of a coaching staff ****ing up a potential star QB. It’s really ugly to watch. If I was a Bears fan, I would be LIVID, and call for Eberflus’ head.

Bears and Commanders fans have this ****show to put up with, while us Bills fans (and the whole NFL world) are looking forward to one of the best games of the year this Sunday. I truly feel sorry for them.

I started this week behind the 8 ball as I let making my picks slip until after the Thursday night game started. I'm staring out with only thirteen games to choose from instead of 14.

My week 6 picks:
San Francisco over Atlanta
Cleveland over New England
Green Bay over NY Jets
Indianapolis over Jacksonville
Miami over Minnesota
Cincinnati over New Orleans
Baltimore over NY Giants
Tampa Bay over Pittsburgh
LA Rams over Carolina
Seattle over Arizona
Buffalo over Kansas City
Philadelphia over Dallas
LA Chargers over Denver

I don't pretend to be any kind of expert. My presumption is that Vegas oddsmakers are the experts. For that reason, I am careful not to pick too many underdogs as outright winners. Nor do I pick prohibitive underdogs as outright winners. Sometimes the oddsmakers are wrong and a prohibitive underdog wins, but you'll come out behind if you pick them to win. I will pick 2 to 4 underdogs per week just to make it interesting. There wouldn't be much point in joining a pickem league and only picking favorites every week.

I got one of the winning dogs and missed 5 of them, not counting the Thursday night game in which I never even mad a pick. It looks like Philly is going to beat Dallas barring a major comeback for the 'boys. Then we'll see if the Chargers can hold off Denver. I'm still tied for first. Mom is kicking everyone’s ass. I had a decent week of 9-5. I’m 50-43 for the season. A pretty dismal .538. Mom is killing both of us for the season.

Last week I said that "Week 6 looks like it has many sure winners....which means I’ll probably have the worst week of the year.”

Yeah....the supposed sure things were plenty......NOT!!!!

Jets going into GB and embarrassing the Packers????

Pittsburgh coming off an ass beating at the hands of Buffalo and snake biting Tampa Bay???

Week seven has several of these too.

How do you pick Cleveland over Ravens, in Baltimore???
How do you pick Atlanta over the Bengals, in Cincy???
How do you pick Washington over Green Bay after their last debacle??
How do yu pick Houston over the Raiders, in Las Vegas????
How do yu pick Detroit over the Cowboys, in Dallas????

The answer is that you don’t. And it’s a sure thing that several of those will go to the underdog. The mystery is...which ones????

With Russell Wilson officially “out” (https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/34853534/sources-broncos-russell-wilson-brett-rypien-start) for this game with Brett Rypien making his first start since 2020 (when in week four the winless Broncos got their first win of the season against the winless Jets) I am changing my pick for that game....

Week 7

New Orleans Saints at Arizona Cardinals

Cleveland Browns at Baltimore Ravens

Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Carolina Panthers

Atlanta Falcons at Cincinnati Bengals

Detroit Lions at Dallas Cowboys

New York Giants at Jacksonville Jaguars

Indianapolis Colts at Tennessee Titans

Green Bay Packers at Washington Commanders

New York Jets at Denver Broncos

Houston Texans at Las Vegas Raiders

Seattle Seahawks at Los Angeles Chargers

Kansas City Chiefs at San Francisco 49ers

Pittsburgh Steelers at Miami Dolphins

Chicago Bears at New England Patriots

</tbody>

The Denver offense has sucked even with Wilson. The chances it will get better with Rypien is doubtful. The Jets defense has been playing very well, and was going to be hard for Denver to counter.

Most people had the Chargers beating Seattle, (I picked that too) and KC getting beat by the 49ers, at home, would have surprised no one.

This thread has existed since the start of the season with zero vitriol....until you came along.

Many posters come here and make good faith predictions and say so in public for fun and enjoyment. You haven’t had the balls to do that.

Like every week, there are going ot be some head scratching upsets. The trick is to guess which ones.

I was thinking Tennessee over KC, but not with Tannehill on the sidelines, and Henry is hurting. Las Vegas is falling apart so they should go into Jax and win. I doubt it and am picking Jax.

I had my best week of the year last week at 10-3 too!!! I’m at .593 for the year. Creeping up on .600. :D:

This week, I’m going with a couple of underdogs. Cleveland over Miami (I think Miami is ripe for a loss, and the Browns are capable of running all over their questionable defense), and Washington over Philly.

I have no reason to pick against Philly at home. Just seems like every week there are one, two or three picks that just defy logic. I’m taking a flyer with this pick.

Not very confident with Seattle over TB in Germany. Same with Dallas on the road at GB. Eventually, GB is going to win a game they are expected to get their asses beat.

Here are my picks for week 10. I might change the Rams pick if Stafford is ruled out....either way, I don’t trust either the Rams of Cards...they both suck.

I don’t care if Josh Allen plays against Minny or not....the Bills win this game.

Week #11 has some tough picks. Tonights game is going to be very interesting.

Rodgers told us that all they had to do is win a game to get going, and they won a BIG one last week against Dallas.

I can’t pick against them, at home, against Tenn. Same with the Pats over Jets.

I had a really big underdog pick last week that came through....Washington over Phlliy.

Although not as big an underdog, I’m taking a flyer on LA Chargers over KC. Division games are always tougher and closer. This is a huge game for LA. They already lost to KC, and going down three full games and the tie breaker to KC could kill their season. They will be desperate with their backs against the wall.

Week 11 had a respectable (barely) 9-5. Still not close to .600 stalling at high .500’s, at .583 for the season.

Reached a bit picking LA Chargers over KC. But it was a very close game. I stupidly picked Green Bay. They are done.

This week has some very good games. Looking for Minny to come back after getting destroyed at the hands of Dallas, and do us a favor by beating NE.

I was about to pick Chicago over the Jets, but then Fields is questionable, but worse yet, they finally pulled Zack Wilson. That gives the Jets a huge boost. I’d love to see the Jets lose to in a row, but it’s not looking good.

Of course, Miami gets cakewalk game vs Houston. Hopefully they will get the big upset, but I’m not going to pick ‘em.

Same with KC at home vs LA Rams. Biggest AFC game is Cincy at TN. Screw Tennessee. I like seeing them use more than Cincy.

Had my best week of the season in week #12. Went 12-4. Now just a hair away from .600 sitting .598 for 2022.

Week #13 has several fantastic games that will have profound effects of playoffs and seeding.

After the Bills being crap out of NE....again....the biggest games of the week are KC at Cincy and Miami at San Fran.....just behind those two is NYJ at Minny.

Not only do I want (as any Bills fan) KC, Miami and NYJ to lose, I am picking all three.

As I posted (http://www.billszone.com/fanzone/showthread.php/261737-We-got-the-win-but?p=4982118&viewfull=1#post4982118) in another thread....

KC has lost every game in Cincy since 1984 (https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2022/12/03/chiefs-havent-won-in-cincinnati-since-1984/). Cincy has beat KC six of the last seven games vs the Chiefs, dating back to 2008 and including last year’s AFC Championship game (IN KC). Joe Burrow has a 2-0 record vs KC.

It is not a stretch to think Cincy will beat KC at home this Sunday.

Miami is going into a buzz saw in San Fran. There is little doubt that they can easily lose that game.

I was close to my first perfect week ever, but the Chargers let me down.

Went 13-1 (don’t count ties).

I suspect that week #14 is not going to so kind.

Had my best week of the season last week, going 13-1, finally raising my year long record to .622 with 120-73 record. Yippie!!!

I have a feeling that week #14 is not going ot be so kind. I forgot to post this yesterday and was still debating some of my picks. I started out badly because I did pick Las Vegas for last night.

Man ‘o man, did they **** that game up. They deserved to lose. And, good for Baker Mayfield. What a story.

For the rest of the games, I have to ignore my gut and use commons sense, which means I’ll probably miss some upsets. Cleveland has owned Cincy, but with Cincy at home, after a big win vs KC, I don’t expect them to slip.

I’m picking mostly home teams this week, with only Miami (Chargers defense is for crap), KC (yeah, it’s a divisional game but predicting two losses in a row for KC is not very smart against a team that has consistently underperformed and disappointed all year), and NE (as much as I HATE to ever pick the Pats, Arizona is just like the Chargers, Las Vegas, Denver, Green Bay, Indy and LA Rams for unreliable screw ups).

My upset of the week (I do not believe that Detroit beating Minny can be considered an “upset”....the Lions have been playing extremely well) is NY Giants over Philly.

The Eagles need to be knocked down a notch. Certainly, they are a very good team, but they have been lucky to have a fairly easy road schedule this year....

Beat Detroit week #1 (by the skin of their teeth 38-35) before the Lions started playing well.
Beat Washington when the crappy Wentz was still starting
Beat Arizona - see above, ARI is a crappy team with a child at QB
Beat Houston - big whup!!
Beat Indy - after the team became a dumpster fire

Going into NY against what should be a pissed off Giants team is not going to be a cakewalk like the rest of Philly’s road games. Daboll will have them ready to play. Yes, Philly will probably win this game, but I would LOVE to see the Giants humble them a little bit.

Here are my picks for week #14....

<tbody>
Week 14

Las Vegas Raiders at Los Angeles Rams

New York Jets at Buffalo Bills

Cleveland Browns at Cincinnati Bengals

Houston Texans at Dallas Cowboys

Minnesota Vikings at Detroit Lions

Philadelphia Eagles at New York Giants

Baltimore Ravens at Pittsburgh Steelers

Jacksonville Jaguars at Tennessee Titans

Miami Dolphins at Los Angeles Chargers

It’s almost like football karma kicked in.

Seattle gets throttled and Dallas barely beat the woefully terrible Texans....AT HOME no less.

And KC goes up 27-0 only to let Denver back in the game and barely beat 'em by six. If Russel Wilson does not go out with a head injury, they could have been beaten by one of the worst teams in the NFL this year.

“Solid picks” is an albatross that the Football Gods see as a challenge to screw it up.

This week, my upset of the week is Jax over Dallas. Jax had a BIG win last week, on the road, and Dallas may be looking ahead to the huge week #16 game vs Philly.

The pick'em site is having some kind of issue- it lets me make the picks, but then they only update one or two games and then nothing. And no response to the email I sent them. :cynic:

I'll have to get off my ass and try to get a picture of the screen when I make the pics, or at least actually post them before the games.

The last update I posted was the awesome week 13.

Wk 13: 12-2 (119-74)

Wk 14 was a disaster with 6-7 (probably my worst ever) which put me at 125-81

Mom had an even better Week 13.

Wk 13: 13-1* (122-71) *she refuses to pick the Browns to win as long as Watson is on the field.

She also did horrible on week 14 - she was NOT happy at all. lol

Wk 14: 6-7 (128-78)

For Week 15, we've both started strong... I've mentioned a few of our picks in the GDT's.

I took:
49ers
Buffalo
Ravens
Vikings
Saints
Commanders
Eagles
Lions (mom took Jets)
Panthers
Cowboys
Chiefs
Broncos
Chargers
Bengals
Raiders (mom took the Patriots)
Packers

:eek2: I didn't realize that we only had two games picked differently.

I’m having a sparkling week #15 as well. 12-3 going into tonight game. And my BIG upset pick actually came through....Jax over Dallas. (I was also cheering Jax on for that win...I HATE the Cowboys.)

I did not do as well in my “rooting for” but picked against list (http://www.billszone.com/fanzone/showthread.php/260950-2022-Weekly-Picks?p=4986252&viewfull=1#post4986252)....although TWO did come through....

Seattle over SanFran - man, Seattle sucks.
Cleveland over Baltimore - SO HAPPY the Ravens lost even though I picked them to win.
Indy over Minny - I just knew in my bones that Indy would **** the bed.
NYG over Washington - GO GIANTS. GO DABOLL!!!!
Chicago over Philly - That was ugly.
Houston over KC - SOOOOOOOO Close. KC did not “win” that game, Houston LOST IT. KC is lucky as ****.
Tampa Bay over Cincy - I was pretty disgusted with myself for actually rooting for Tom Brady....but a Cincy loss would have been HUGE for the Bills. Alas, I still got a LOT of satisfaction seeing Tom Brady **** THE BED!!!!!
LA Rams over Green Bay - Rooting for the underdog Baker Mayfield. We’ll see.

With only three weeks left, it’s REALLY getting real now!!! Almost every game is critical to some team.

After a good week...then bad week...then good week roller coaster....I’m probably due for a bad week.

Week 16

Buffalo Bills at Chicago Bears

Biggest “upset” I’m picking is Houston over Tennessee. The Texans have pushed two really good teams (Dallas and KC) to the limit. They SHOULD have won the KC game, but, the Chiefs have a lucky horseshoe up their butts.

With Tannehill out and Houston due for some good fortune, I’ve got the Texans winning their second game of the year.

A mild “upset” is NY Giants over Minny. Minny has an even bigger hoosegow up their butts and really need to lose this game. Here’s hoping that Thibodeaux has another career day and makes Cousin’s life miserable.

Another kinda-sorta upset is Jax over NY Jets. Lawrence is much better than Wilson and....**** the Jets!!!

Mom will be pissed at me for rooting for these teams that I picked against....

Atlanta over Baltimore
Seattle over KC
New England over Cincy (yeah, it HURTS to actually root for the NE Cheaters)
Washington over SanFran
Green Bay over Miami
Arizona over Tampa Bay (**** Tom Brady)
Indy over LA Chargers

I’m disappointed with Detroit. And to a lesser extent, the Giants. Minny has got a golden horseshoe up their butt this year. Don’t think that will matter in the playoffs.

Although I would not mind a Buffalo vs Minnesota Super Bowl and that we kick their asses to avenge their lucky miracle win against us, and to win their first SB and relegate Minny to a five time loser with no wins.

Had a fairly good week #16 going 11-5. Now at 151-87 for the season, a .688 win percentage.

Week 17 is a very strange week to pick. So many various playoff effecting games, and a quarter of the teams already eliminated from the playoffs and several more in a hopeless position.

Strange situation where both Titans and Jax loses (or wins) are irrelevant as the last game of the year between them will decide who wins the division, and that team is locked into the #4 seed.

My upset of the week is Carolina going into Tampa Bay and helping to ensure that TB12 misses the playoffs. If Carolina beats TB and then New Orleans....Brady is OUT!!!! Here’s hoping. Time to go away Tom (fat chance )
