ORCHARD PARK - There were several things that went confusingly awry for the Tennessee Titans last week in their stunning 21-20 loss to Brian Daboll’s New York Giants (https://www.democratandchronicle.com/story/sports/nfl/titans/2022/09/11/tennessee-titans-score-ny-giants-saquon-barkley-stats/7977062001/).
But nothing was more eyebrow-raising than how Saquon Barkley ran over and around a run defense (https://www.democratandchronicle.com/story/sports/nfl/giants/2022/09/13/saquon-barkley-stats-ny-gaints-titans/69491772007/) that last season ranked No. 1 in the NFL with an average yield of just 83.5 yards.
“We had double-digit (missed tackles),” Titans coach Mike Vrabel said, lamenting the poor performance before adding more reasons for the failures. “A good player (Barkley), poor defense, and poor gap integrity. A couple of times it was edge; sometimes it was inside tackling. We’ll have to really re-evaluate what we’re doing.”

Barkley ran for 164 yards on 18 carries and scored one touchdown, then also powered his way across the goal line for the game-winning two-point conversion on a shovel pass that was essentially the same thing as a run. Barkley broke runs of 33 and 68 yards, and the Giants finished with a whopping 238 yards and a 7.4 average per carry.

Do we want to?

They have the best RB in the game and we have injuries on the DL lately. If it's a contest of grind-it-out 8 min drives, they have the advantage. I think we want to put up as many points as possible as fast as possible- get them on their heels and take the run game out of it. That's our best shot at winning.

I agree. Why would they want to? If they are up multiple scores, then sure, but otherwise, there's no need for the Bills to run the ball more than they did vs the Rams, unless of course the Titans just keep giving up 10 yard rips, which I highly doubt.

Maybe we run the ball a bit more than usual to help the DL a bit :idunno:

I'm sure we'll see our share of the passing game as well.

Whatever forces them to the air works for me.

more of the article:

That was shocking because Giants quarterback Daniel Jones and his underwhelming cast of passing game targets certainly poses a fraction of the threat Josh Allen and the Bills will provide Tennessee when the Titans come to Highmark Stadium Monday night (https://www.democratandchronicle.com/story/sports/football/nfl/bills/2022/09/13/who-do-the-bills-play-next-a-monday-night-football-game-titans-week-2/68001534007/) for the home opener. The Titans were focused on taking Barkley away and they couldn’t do it.

I see us with a very balanced attack keeping them off balance all day.
