Six former Buffalo Bills among 129 Pro Football Hall of Fame nominees

Fullback Larry Centers, guard Ruben Brown, linebacker Cornelius Bennett, linebacker London Fletcher, linebacker Takeo Spikes, and safety Troy Vincent are among this year’s nominees for the Pro Football Hall of Fame Class of 2023. The former Buffalo Bills are among the 129 nominees that will eventually be whittled to just a handful of enshrined members of the Hall. All six didn’t make the cut to semifinalist a year ago.

(If you really want to count him, receiver Anquan Boldin signed a contract with the Bills but only spent a couple weeks with the Bills in the offseason.)

Bennett is nearing the end of his eligibility and hasn’t advanced far enough in the voting to think he will get in this year. He had a great career, and the only folks ahead of him on the 1990s All-Decade team are all Hall of Famers. He earned one All-Pro and five Pro Bowl nods with the Bills. In 129 games, he had 6 interceptions, a whopping 22 forced fumbles, 19 fumble recoveries, 52.5 sacks, a pair of return touchdowns, and nearly 800 tackles.

Hall of Very Good. Not HOF.

I think Spikes played at a HOF level.... for two years before he got hurt. Without the injury, I think he would have been good enough to make it. But his dominance was so short.

Fletcher- does his longevity count? He was very good for 15 years, and I believe he never missed a game. I also think his stats don't tell the whole story. Shortly after he left the Bills, my friend scored free tickets to Washington vs NJ-A. Since i didn't have a real rooting interest in the game, I focused on Fletcher when Wash was on D. There were a lot of plays where he was in the perfect position to prevent a pass. A guy would look open for the blink of an eye, and out of nowhere, Fletcher had him covered and the QB would either be forced to sail it high or check down. He played cover 2 pass defense extremely well.

Spikes couldve been a ray lewis type if he didnt get hurt. Just an animal in his prime

Don't expect any to get the nod.

Being six of 129 is an indication of “Hall of Very Good”.

The next cut down is where the cream starts to rise to the top....25 "semifinalists” in Nov.....and then 15 in January, which are added to the four “Seniors” already announced.

Ruben Brown is the only one of the six that was drafted by the Bills and can be considered a true Buffalo Bill. And he deserves entry into the HOF more than the others. Although it’s questionable he’ll make it.

Bennett is the second most worthy “Buffalo Bills” but as the article points out.....”Bennett is nearing the end of his eligibility and hasn’t advanced far enough in the voting to think he will get in this year.

I loved watching him play and happened to be at the very first game he played with the Bills against Denver. He terrorized John Elway from the edge. It was fun to watch.

They would have to be on a different list. This list is "modern-era". Even Tasker has been out of the league long enough he doesn't qualify for this list.

You gotta get on the correct list.
