We get to watch him play for the next decade (please god no injuries).

What a privilege.

Okay, be honest.

Who here used to gripe about "accuracy issues"?

Seriously.

I told you that could be corrected with proper coaching.

I had a whole list of things I was concerned about with him coming out of college.

That said, I always acknowledge how terrible my beliefs on college QB's are. It's almost a talent at this point for me to be wrong on college QBs.

However, in my 40's i know enough to give the kid a chance and see what he becomes. Every thing is said "he will need to get better at this" he has exceeded my expectations on. He's erased any doubts with authority.

Well I had to talk my son off the ledge when Allen was drafted. I personally liked the pick and it goes to show you that the experts get it wrong all the time. Most draft sites had several people ahead of Josh!

Josh Allen has moved (solidly) into #1 this week in passing yards.

I believe Hebert was #1 last week.

Herbert’s not going anywhere…gonna be a fun decade+ watching all the AFC gunslingers

As an aside I also love that the AFC is the dominant conference…the old(er) timers will remember the dark days of the NFC trucking the AFC year after year with no hope in sight for the AFC.

Before he was drafted, I was intrigued by his skill set. I was OK with the Bills drafting him. I wasn't sure how long it would take him to develop given his background, but I was hopeful that he would.

The second TD to Davis was 63 yards in the air. I've been saying it for a couple of seasons, he makes 2 or 3 throws almost every game that make you go "Damn, how does he do that?".

Although I've always been adamant that accuracy could be taught in several arguments, even prior to Allen being part of that discussion, I can't claim to have been confident he was going to be good, let alone this good. Even if my user name at yahoo fantasy sports has been JoshAllenMVP since he was drafted :D .

The thing about Josh is as good a player as he is, he's an even better person. Makes it so much easier to root for a guy like that.

For me its the effortless way he makes some real difficult throws look. Hold the corner on the short route, flat foot throw a 25 yarder into the cover 2 hole. When he is on, the only thing that can stop us is ourselves

I had the same mindset. I remember before the 2018 draft it was predicted that Mayfield and Darnold were going to go first, Lamar Jackson was considered an outside chance of going in the first round with many speculating that he would make a better WR than QB.

The Bills seemed to be predicted to pick either one of the Josh’s. I hoped like crazy that they would pass on Josh Rosen.

I knew the Bills got the right guy with his second start, first road start vs. Minnesota. And specifically this play....

I will say this about Herbert, as good as he looks, he continues to lose games. Obviously, a lot of that is NOT his fault. However, the entire team needs to get it together and start getting the W's if he wants to be in the conversation with Mahomes and Josh.

I'll add that Burrow could get into the conversations if the Bengals don't get him killed first, and Lamar is better than i give him credit for, but also not as consistent and Josh and Mahomes.

Brady and Rodgers are still around and can play..... but at the skill levels of 2022, Josh and Mahomes are the top two.

Also.... I still have Mahomes as #1. Until Josh gets the MVP and SB..... which he can TOTALLY feel free to check off the list this year.

Herbert is a more mobile drew bleadsoe imo.

He HAS to be in his form to make passes. He doesnt play as good throwing on the run and has no arm angles. He has an amazing arm, but once he gets out of his normal fundamentals, hes not accurate

Allens a mix of a bit of mahomes arm angles, brett farves arm talent with cam newtons rushing ability

And recently he has a manning/brady esque presnap/post snap ability of reading defense and control of audibles

This is why i think hes the most talented QB ever

You can always tell what generation someone is from when they present comparisons like this. Not that I’m challenging them, but it reveals your youth.

Being old enough to watch, in their prime (and not just highlights) the qualities of....

Jonny Unitas (I saw him later in his career)
Dan Marino
Terry Bradshaw
John Elway
Roger Staubach
Steve Young

And the guy that was considered the unquestioned GOAT (until Brady came along....but Joe Montana changed the position of QB...a “new era” if you will....and that was back when QB’s were not coddled and protected....not sure if Tom Brady would be the Tom Brady of the 21st century back in the 70’s & 80’s)....Joe Montana.

None of them played in the 21st century.

Anyway I consider Josh Allen the most unique and talented QB because of his combination of size, strength, arm strength, accuracy, running ability, football smarts, blazing speed and the biggest difference....his toughness and mindset of a ****ing bulldozer.

QB’s have NEVER done stuff like this....

That was a game where I happened to be with my daughters family .... there wasn't a Bills fan in the house except for my daughter, myself and my wife. There were Cowboy fans, there were Patriot fans and I believe at least one Dolphin fan ..... that game all I had to do was watch ....... you know the rest :D :D

After watching Josh throw 3 tds in the first quarter of his final Wyoming game, I called my son and declared we needed to draft this kid.
When Buffalo traded up to 7 in the 2018 draft, I told my wife Buffalo was taking Josh. I flew out of my chair when they announced the pick.

Good movie. Think they took that line from Plant. Cameron Crowe flew around with Zeppelin on their 1975 tour.

Yep.

Stillwater was the fictional amalgamation of Led Zeppelin and Lynyrd Skynyrd who Crowe traveled with when he was a teenage writer.

Here is a factoid about that quote (https://www.pajiba.com/seriously_random_lists/mindhole-blowers-20-facts-you-might-not-know-about-cameron-crowes-almost-famous.php) and how Led Zeppelin reacted to a “special screening" of the move....

After special screening of the film for Robert Plant and Jimmy Page, Led Zeppelin granted Crowe the rights to use four songs, the first time that Zepellin had allowed one of their songs to be licensed for a movie since Crowe’s Fast Times at Ridgemont High. The line “I Am a Golden God.” in fact, was lifted from Robert Plant, who was sober when he yelled it.

Russell Hammond was NOT sober when he parroted Robert Plant.

Another cool stat to think about. By season’s end, if he beats the Browns, Packers and Bears, then he will have notched a regular season W against all but the following other 31 teams:

1. Colts (but beat them in 2020 playoffs)
2. Cardinals (lost on Hail Murray)
3. Eagles

Not bad for first 5 seasons in the league. If all goes well and they meet and beat Philly in SB, only Arizona would remain on his unvanquished list.

Russell Hammond was NOT sober when he parroted Robert Plant.

Interesting. I thought/heard Stillwater was based on Three Dog Night. What you said makes more sense.

And I love that song "Fever Dog" from the movie (even though it's a ripoff of "When the Levee Breaks"):

It’s not that Stillwater was based on any specific band, it’s more the experience Crowe had as a teenaged rock writer. Some of his earliest experiences were going on the road with Led Zeppelin and Skynyrd.

But (I almost forgot) his first cover for Rolling Stone Magazine was covering the Allman Brothers....he wrote it when he was 16 years old.

The interesting thing is that when Crowe started writing Almost Famous, it was not about himself. It was set in England, about a publicist who’s working with this Peter Frampton-type charter named Ricky Fedora. The part was specifically written with David Bowie in mind. The Penny Lane chapter was there but a tiny part.

As he kept on working on it, it just morphed into a semi-autobiography.

He’s back in the news because Almost Famous is coming to Broadway as a musical. But not a “juke-box” musical. It has 20 original songs. I’m planning on going to NYC to go to that show.

Here is a great NY Times story about the show (I gifted it so you can read it)

‘Almost Famous’ Heads to Broadway, Purple Aura Intact (https://www.nytimes.com/2022/10/12/theater/almost-famous-broadway-cameron-crowe.html?unlocked_article_code=***NdACjoiEv_QMiY8hfSYUsUGD74vjtMFs778I9y8SyISpMhxtP762-utDoG2fPigOlx1Z55t6nF8jKRpRsw80plCD5lBcimHHmVRx5O1ME3CN-n2-IN0SrjuTnCvmts2S3kT-QqOu_jJ7KqPuYZ-s07ySyDMhnEzNG6eCj9vfX-_ZPF0kgjwq9_N2uA_GOxUobAUfRxH4Bx45-btX7nB8_iYlkKqP-Iq7zapw_7ZjtdXBzegkWPJTePYdy06R69VTfcJfNDZqRW9ydt_ZLS6DVB4eC0aSh5pvPN6vjz6vW-T278_KSmDo3FudiaJn4DKDXdMisZvYKuM-rrdv76QAs0Zh2Cpn5N67J1MhO&smid=share-url)
Cameron Crowe adapted his Oscar-winning screenplay, about writing for Rolling Stone in the ’70s, preserving parts of the movie’s soundtrack and zingers (Don’t take drugs!) for the stage. And here is another NY Times article all about the “I am a Golden God” story….

‘Almost Famous’: The Oral History of a Golden God’s Acid Trip
As the coming-of-age rock tale turns 20, the cast and crew remember how a star’s badly aimed jump and other near-misses became a standout scene.
