Re: White to Safety, Interesting Article.
A very interesting idea if that's what it takes to get him on the field contributing at his usually high level I'm all for it.

I think the best play would be to keep White at CB but move him to S if we have another injury.

I'm sure they would only do it to gain advantage.
I trust they'll figure it out.

Re: White to Safety, Interesting Article.
The only reason you'd make this move is if you think he's coming back too soon. CB can't hide a bumb knee. You need to aggressively plant, push off, twist and essentially put a lot of torque on the knee pretty much every play. If there is any concern he's coming back too soon, you can ease him in at safety first. Safety needs to do the same stuff, but you can hide it a bit, and play a little safer from that position. My wife told me that if I had a dollar for every girl who found me unattractive, girls would find me VERY attractive.
MY WIFE SAID THAT!!!

Re: White to Safety, Interesting Article.
We haven't seen Tre come back from injury yet, but assuming he is even 90% of his pre-injury capability he'd still be the best CB on the team - at least for now.
There is a reason the two positions on defense that are most high demand and highly paid are edge rusher and CB. They are the positions hardest to fill.
You don't take a top-10 CB and move him to safety.
Also, Tre isn't exactly a prototypical safety build. Even if he's filling a "FS" position (i.e. Micah Hyde's role) - especially as we expect to get Micah back, and it's our "SS/in the box" safety in Poyer we're in danger of losing next year.
I'd be okay moving Benford back there if we're really trying to keep our "best players" on the field.
Note: If Tre isn't able to play CB at a high level, but can play as a roaming safety in a one or two high type defense for THIS year until Hyde comes back - that might be worthwhile.Last edited by timekills; 10-26-2022, 03:13 AM.

Re: White to Safety, Interesting Article.
If we are trying to keep our best 4, its Poyer, White, Jackson, Hamlin
Hamlin has played better at his position than any other db has played at theirs, baring maybe Taron
Hydes responsibility was to stop deep passes and we still havent had a completion of 25+ in air with hamlin, plus Hamlin is more physicalNot here to be right, just here to have interesting discussions about my impulsive opinions
