    White to Safety, Interesting Article.

The Buffalo Bills are expected to get Tre'Davious White back soon and with the players on the roster, a move to safety might make sense.

The idea is not without merit.

I need to hear it from the team first.

A very interesting idea if that's what it takes to get him on the field contributing at his usually high level I'm all for it.

I think the best play would be to keep White at CB but move him to S if we have another injury.

          No.

He's the best corner back on the team when healthy.

Either trade for one, or live with what you have, but moving him to safety would be stupid, IMO.

I'm sure they would only do it to gain advantage.

I trust they'll figure it out.

As other's have said, he is the best corner. Plus he sucks at tackling. I am fine with Hamlin at safety and White working his way in at corner.

True safety is a more physical position.

The only reason you'd make this move is if you think he's coming back too soon. CB can't hide a bumb knee. You need to aggressively plant, push off, twist and essentially put a lot of torque on the knee pretty much every play. If there is any concern he's coming back too soon, you can ease him in at safety first. Safety needs to do the same stuff, but you can hide it a bit, and play a little safer from that position.

The article states keeping all the best players on the field… what about another CB at safety? You accomplish the stated sim and your best CB is playing corner.

Re: White to Safety, Interesting Article.

We haven't seen Tre come back from injury yet, but assuming he is even 90% of his pre-injury capability he'd still be the best CB on the team - at least for now.
There is a reason the two positions on defense that are most high demand and highly paid are edge rusher and CB. They are the positions hardest to fill.
You don't take a top-10 CB and move him to safety.

Also, Tre isn't exactly a prototypical safety build. Even if he's filling a "FS" position (i.e. Micah Hyde's role) - especially as we expect to get Micah back, and it's our "SS/in the box" safety in Poyer we're in danger of losing next year.

I'd be okay moving Benford back there if we're really trying to keep our "best players" on the field.

Note: If Tre isn't able to play CB at a high level, but can play as a roaming safety in a one or two high type defense for THIS year until Hyde comes back - that might be worthwhile.

If we are trying to keep our best 4, its Poyer, White, Jackson, Hamlin

Hamlin has played better at his position than any other db has played at theirs, baring maybe Taron

Hydes responsibility was to stop deep passes and we still havent had a completion of 25+ in air with hamlin, plus Hamlin is more physical

This. Ridiculous to not play our elite CB at the position he plays.

He's not a safety for a reason. He has never prepared as a safety for a reason. This sounds silly.

He doesn't have the skill set to play safety in this defense. Not a good idea at all, IMO.
